Hydraulic Gate noise
This is weird. I open my rear gate and let it slowly rise until it's completely open. The noise from the hydraulics don't immediately stop. It's louder and has been lasting longer than when I first got the car. This also occurs when I first start the engine...without even touching the gate.
Anyone experience this yet?

Exactly what hydraulics are you referring to?
Do you mean the gas struts which open the tailgate?
They shouldn't make any noise - especially when not in motion.
This bit is confusing...

If it is the strut. Put some WD-40 on a rag and wipe down the rod when it is up. That may help.
But I also can't see why starting the engine would cause it to make noise.

You might be experiencing what we have it could be the locking mechanism for the back and fuel lid starting to fail...the noise sounds like a gear working for say 30-45 seconds when you start and stop the engine.
Right. It's the gas struts then.
Yep. Exactly. How did you resolve this? Is this stuff covered under warranty, do you think?

Well if its the vacuum leads it would be covered up to 36,000 miles, after that its only if you have extended warranty, I think. The part was cheap and oddly didn't fit, but the fix is easy, a tad time consuming as the back is all stripped out.
