Yeah, I'm constantly amazing people with my useless knowledge of everything car. I wish there was Jeopardy style show on Speed or something that focused on car trivia. I'D BE RICH!!! Actually, I think the HIDs were initially released only as an option starting on the 1995 or 1996 Mark VIII LSC. The standard car didn't offer them, and MOST LSCs didn't have them either. starting in 1997 they became standard on all Mark VII with the addition of the new front styling. Also at that time they introduced the Standard Neon full length Tail Light. I always thought that was cool. I forget what the cost of the option was, but I'm sure it was expensive...
Now your turn...
1. What was the first car with Anti-Lock Brakes?
2. What was the first production car with SRS Air Bags?
Of, course these answers can be found easily enough on the net, but I'll trust you won't cheat.

Oh yeah, and just to add. I had a 1997 VW GTI VR6 that Auto-Up windows AND sunroof. You could also roll them up or down with the keyless remote, now that was cool. Oh, and for safety, it did have the auto-reverse feature if there was a obstruction in the window or sunroof opening. That was about the only good thing about that POS.
Actually there are alot of cars that offer the remote roll down windows. All Honda Accords that have factory keyless entry since 2004 have the remote roll down feature. You just can't roll them back up without getting in and putting the key in the ignition first. Acuras, BMW, Audi, VW, Honda, and I'm sure a few others have this feature now. Hell the Jaguar XK-8 convertible that was released in the late 90's can even put it's top down remotely by turning the key in the driver's door. If it was equipped with auto windshield wipers, it could even be programmed to put the top up unattended if it started to rain. I've also seen other cars that can do the rain thing with an open sunroof.
Okay, I'm getting carried away with my useless car knowledge. I'll stop...

I think the 6.9 for both?
For Airbags, patent applications date back to as early as 1951. A german (surprise surprise) named Linderer and an American named Hedrik started these studies and applications in that year. The first production cars to offer them was a fleet of experimental Fords, I can't recall the model they were based on. These were never sold. In 1973 GM offered them as an experimental study option or trial on some Chevrolet models sold only to the US Government. The 1973 Olds Toronado was offered with a passenger side only airbag option, and was the first car to be offered to the public with this option. The first true mass production cars with a driver's side air bag option were the 1975 and 1976 Olds 98 and Buick Electra 225 and Roadmaster I think was also included in that. It was only available for those two years. The first successful mass market Air bag was on the 1984 Ford Tempo believe it or not.
As for Anti-Lock Brakes...
I can't recall who was responsible for inventing them, but the first mass market production car with ABS was the 1969 Ford Thunderbird. It used a primitive transistor controlled hydraulic system the was very heavy and took up a lot of space. The "ABS Computer" was located between the firewall and glovebox. The glove box was barely big enough for gloves as the computer that controlled the brakes was about the size of three shoe boxes... There was also another "box" in the trunk that had something to do with it, but I never had to mess with that one.
I actually had a 1970 Thunderbird. Trust me, I know they actually worked. I had to use them to stop that huge boat on more than one occasion. Pretty interesting system actually. I had to tear it apart and fix a few things when I first took possession of it.
These are my answers to the best of my personal knowledge. If I'm incorrect please let me know. I like to learn new things.

My .02:
This is the nicest car I've had yet to date. I haven't been able to afford other sports cars before now, and I love the XF (bang for the buck is very good). I can't wait till next week when I take it on a road trip for work. So far the farthest I've driven at any one time is 35 miles. Next Monday, 200.
Ok, so I don't have the experience some of you have with Vettes, Porches, etc. etc.
But you know what? Every car/truck I did have, I wished there was something about it that it had (i.e. a sunroof, better controls, etc). But I didn't get the vehicle because of all of the amenities, I got the car/truck because it had essentially all I needed.
My thought is if it didn't have it: add it or get something else. But then you run the risk that it has that other widget but doesn't have something else.
No one car will have EVERYTHING you could ever want or be able to take on all comers for speed. Will some vehicles be disappointments? Yes. Overall are you happy with your investment? You should be. I know I am.
And all of the people that have seen my car since I bought it less than 2 weeks ago have raved about it. We're talking over 30 people now. And not ONE made any comment about the "cheapness of the interior" or the cup holder, or this or that. They've all said pretty much the same thing. VERY NICE!
I had a guy stop me yesterday as I was getting out of it so he could ask questions because he was drooling over getting one himself and actually wanted to talk to someone that had one (another one sold..DC where's my commission check?). My customer that I was visiting called me an "S.O.B." because I had it. He was jealous green all over.
So is it perfect? No. Is it perfect for me? YES!!!

Oh well, you'll get it next time. Now, do you know which car had two different size doors? I actually tried looking it up and can't come up with an answer just yet. I'm stumped I admit it...
Now it's probably something I HAVE heard before, but I can't recall at this time. I will probably let out the Homer Simpson DOH! when I see it...

Is it a mail JEEP??? It only has 2 doors, and the one on the passenger side is bigger than the drivers side, considering it doesn't have a driver's door, only a window...
Brain storming here...
