I browsed the members galleries a bit but didn't see this....has anyone actually installed the plates inside the door - the one with Crossfire in italics - with the lights behind them?

 

There are a few around, but the are HELLA expensive for what they are. I've also heard a couple people have the transformers go bad in a short amount of time.

 

Yeah the price is rather extreme. I rather like how it looks though....did anyone have pictures?

I believe you're asking about door sills. Search for that and you will find everything you're looking for. These would be the chrome or brushed aluminum sill covers that sit on the body just under the door. (So when you open the door you're looking down at it. ). There are even some threads explaining how to change the color of the light. There is a set for sale on eBay right now as well.

I found the one on ebay, but I am starting to wonder if they make it for my year. I have an '04 but the ones I find are for '05 and on. What a bummer.

 

I am pretty sure they work on any year.

 

I thought they might, I don't see a difference. I did find the installation/color change thread so I think I am going to get a set of these. It's too slick to pass up. Thanks guys.

 

The ones on eBay will work, but that guy is charging FULL RETAIL! You can get them cheaper if you look hard enough. Dealer cost on them is only about $260.

I found those right after you suggested searching for them - I just was looking for the wrong thing before I posted the question. I wasn't sure what they were called. But thank you! I bookmarked the install so that if/when I try them, I can manage.

 

I just ordered the Illuminated Door Sills this weekend from eBay, $350 shipped. I couldn't find them for cheaper or anyone that would get it for me for dealer cost. I'm not worried about the transformer. I can replace it with another if they go out, plus they do come with a 1 year mopar warranty.

 

I installed them yesterday. Easy install. Way easier than wiring in a subwoofer (which I was doing at the same time). I would say it's a 30 minute job and I tied into the cargo circuit light instead of the door pins like in MMZ_TimeLords's thread. I did the install during the day so I couldn't tell if they were on or not, but when it became night, it looks freaking awesome. The transformer steps up the voltage from 12 volts to 27 volts, btw and Mopar Parts come with a 1 year warranty incase the transformer does go bad.

 

Here ya go, they can also be installed by your dealer takes about 45 minutes.
