Without a dipstick, the factory must have alot of confidence in it. So there probably isn't much to be concerned about.

The tranny is sealed at the factory for life, you would need to purchase a "Special Service Dipstick Tool" (part #8863) and a funnel (part #8908) if you need to fill the tranny. This info was taken from the "Crossfire Training Reference Manual" and can be found on pg. 195. The NAG-1 automatic transmission takes 10.57 qts. (10 liters) and uses MS-9602 ATF+4 Automatic Transmission Fluid.

I made a dipstick out of a manual choke cable(about $10 at auto store). All I did was remove the solid wire from the center and use the flexible conduit. I painted about 4 inches of one end white and made marks where the level should be. You can also use an extra long zip tie like Woody did. I posted the exact measurements for the markings on a thread on here somewhere...

Silverfish,
I find it hard to understand how you can't figure this out with all the info you have been pointed to. The total length of the transmission dip stick doesn't make any difference as long as you are holding one end and the other end is at the bottom of the transmission. The Miller tool is 52" long. The measurement section is about 80mm/3" with markings every 10mm. See pics and previous data pointed out to you. To measure the fluid properly you will also need an infrared thermometer to read the temp of the transmission sump. I hope this settles all of your questions...
Its markings at 25 degrees Celsius ATF temperature range between 10.3mm to 21.3mm.
At 80 degrees Celsius ATF temperature they range between 54mm to 65mm.
As pilfered from your service manual:

Re: How do I check Transmission Fluid level?
Finally Pics- thanks so much--- i assume i can use a choke cable that would allow me to messure the Trans oil.
Most places will not do a trans drain and fill cause the car does NOT have a dip stick, Nor will they drop the pan ....so im doing it myslef.
Thanks again Very helpfull
And rem: Dont fake the funk on a nasty dunk!!!

Re: How do I check Transmission Fluid level?
I have a question about the temp/mm chart. Is the distance from the bottom of the pan or the bottom of the factory stick?
I don't believe the manual states "life of the car." More like filled for life or lifetime fluid. "Lifetime" being life of the warranty.
And while we are servicing transmissions, how can the leak free transmission cable plug be identified?

Change filter and fluid at 80,000 miles. The fluid is then filled for life.

Re: How do I check Transmission Fluid level?
If you "fill for life" that means your transmission will eventually DIE because you didn't change the fluid or the filter. These cars are known to drive for 300,000 miles with proper care, so if you stop maintenance at 80K miles, I would have to presume you want its life span to be shorter than 300,000 miles. It's up to you. As for me, if I still own the car in another 60K miles, I will change the fluid and filter again in MY car.
