Default Warranty Question For The Pro's

I have another post up about issues I am having starting my car...

I had it towed to Chrysler today... and the dealer is telling me that its an electrical issue with my alarm ... that it is always armed... which is why my car will Not start...

From what he said its like a built in kill switch that will Not dis-arm...

Now when I asked him if this is covered under my warranty he said "well you bump to bumper is over... but you power train and major parts are covered so I will have to check if electrical issues are covered".

My Xfire is an '04 with 50km (canada) so like 30 miles.

I would rather be able to tell him I know its covered and you better no charge me!!

any advice would be great!!

Thank you.

I assume the warranty in Canada would be the same as in the US. Your owner's manual should give a description of what is and what is not covered under the warranty. The powertrain warranty only covers a small list of mechanical parts in the engine, transmission and rear end. Nothing electrical is covered under the powertrain warranty, so if your bumper to bumper warranty has expired you will be stuck with the bill.

What is the exact problem your having. If its your starter disable, then you would be able to turn your key and nothing would happen. Your alarm however should still go off. Then it's also possible the starter or wiring leading to the starter could be at fault. Explain all you know about the situation and maybe we can help. There should be a way to bypass the factory alarm. It would take some of the electrical experts here to brainstorm, but I'm sure there are some here or at the12volt.com that can help. If you can prove its not the alarm then you should be covered on your warranty.
