Two tone paint job...
Thanks, By the way it gos without saying your hood is very cool Fireamx,
Great job. As far as your 2 cents Cgocifer, its more then welcome. Feedback is always good from other members, If they agree or not.
I don't care for it when people are rude and suggest your a dope to get there point across. I just would hope that people show a little class when they don't care for something, no matter what were talking about.

And that's not even including the high-end tuners, who can come up with some very garish stuff.

But if that look is something you think you might like, just paint up a model the way you want to do it, and see how it looks.
These cars are selling for so little money new, and their resale is in the dumpster, I'd never worry very much about keeping them original, unless that look is what floats your boat.
Do what ever makes you happy, the only person you have to please is yourself. (Well maybe the Wife every now and then too).

One idea will have the sides black including the bumpers and a checkered flag blend going from the the rear quarter panel up the sides of the roof and only the sides and ending into the existing silver roof. The hood and rear deck lid will also remain silver. Eric has offered to do a rending in photoshop. I've been painting a model to see the results and have changed it 3 times. But will get there. If it looks good on paper, that's when it will be right. Oh I'm going to wait a bit as this is a big step. Being in the sign business, I might do a vinyl wrap first. The expensive vinyl lays down very well and best of all can be removed if I decide "What in the Hell did i do?" If on the other hand it looks really good I can then go to paint. My problem is I can't leave anything alone.

Nice photoshopping!
Though I don't have any interest in racing stripes, I think this silver on gray looks pretty good.

I was considering painting my SRT-6 in a similar style as what you have shown. Candy red on top and black on the sides. I thought that I would paint the top of the wing red and leave the side edge and bottom of the wing black. Nice digital work on your photos. Thanks.

Of course. But history and aesthetics are two entirely different issues. If not, then we would all be driving only black cars, according to Henry Ford's famous words.

I think painting a toy model is the way to start. My concern is weather a Crossfire coupe is to small a car to support two colors.
I have seen this combo on trucks and larger cars and it looks great.
very custom, especially Silver and Black.
I know i can count on you guys for some interesting opinions.
By the way, isn't this forum out of sight!

.02 cents more here, your slowly making money
I would not paint a XF, but here is why. I like the car, it's look and design completly. I too could end up making so many changes I'd never leave it alone. But that's just me, some people like it but see something more in the car and make changes. Go to the web site where they make full car or part of a car 3M stickers work with them, you'd have the best of both. Make the car what into what you want while retaining the original paint and value. One thing is likely true, who ever owns it next will most likely not like the change you made. A 3M "clear bra" sticker would fix the whole question. Maybe that was more like .04 or .06 cents worth

I have customized quite a few sports cars, mechanically and exterior. I use a photo of the stock car and color . Load it in Adobe photoshop and add colors, grill components, etc.
You can download a free trial version of Photoshop. Try it out. It's like looking at a photo of your new paint theme completed. No guess work.Take a look at a 63 Austin Healey. The silver and white side version. Food for thought. Good Luck.
