Rock Rock Rock Paper Sissors & Windshields
Driving home yesterday some idiot throw up a stone that hit the windshield and now I have a chip right in front of the drivers seat.
Had a couple right in front of the mirror, but they weren't bothering me.
I'm considering getting them patched, but was wondering if the patches are undetectable or will they be like a magnifing glass.
Anyone had any experiences with this?

It is illegal in Texas to have that done when it's in the drivers vision. Professionals won't do it if it's illegal. The repair will have a slight distortion.

many repair shops will eat your comprehensive deductible
and bill your insurance directly. AND it shouldn't increase your premiums.

Well I did the dirty deed. I was in Walmart and in the last section of the auto department I saw the dreaded winsheild repair kit. So I got one and low and be hold, I actually followed the directions and it came out perty good. Not perfect! There is still a little crack showing, but it's sealed up and hardly noticable from both the outside and the inside. So to sum it up, I'm happy and it cost me less then ten bucks
