Default WOW, never would have thought...

So my friend has a 2004 base model. And when she steps on the brake pedal in park, she is able to remove the key from the ignition and the car continues to run.... When her foot is then released off the brake pedal the car turns off.

Anyone else have this issue?

Reminds me of 80's GM cars where you could remove the key anytime it was on, even going down the road.

I could also do that on my 62 Chevy and you didn't even need the key to be in the ignition to shut it off or restartt if it wasn't turned off with the key

I could start my 65' Chevy Pickup with any key!!

I never told anyone - You could tap the wing window open - reach in - unlock the door and drive away.

OK I had to try this. I just went out to the garage and started the car, pressed the brake in park and turned off the key.
The car shut off. Sounds like a odd issue but probably nothing of concern.

It seems you need to re read the original post.................you are supposed to remove the key; without turning it, while the car is running, in park and foot on brakes.
