Talking Soon-to-be New Crossfire Owner here!

Hey guys, I'm obviously new to this forum and probably the only one who doesn't have a Crossfire currently. However... that is all going to change here in hopefully the next six months! I've always liked the Crossfire ever since I saw it (the coupe especially). Life moved on though, things happened and my attention shifted away from cars to higher education.

Recently, while leaving the local cinemaplex, my once-silver 1990 Volvo with 220K miles sputtered, jolted and died barely a quarter from the theater; right in front of a used car dealership. I was pretty frustrated but while waiting for the tow truck to show, I walked over to the lot and just started to cruise around; hands in pockets, feeling pretty bitter about how much repairs were going to cost me on my wagon. Then I saw them!

Three near-mint condition Crossfires lined up, recently washed and just seeming to smile at me. All with price points below 18K too. Instantly my love affair with the car came rushing back! The first one, a white 2005 Coupe was unlocked so I took a seat and closed the door. Not only did I fit well (im about 6'3"), I really thought the interior was nice and the seats, very comfortable. I wasn't able to take it for a test drive that day but it was a real eye-opener as before, I thought the cars would be priced a lot higher.

Granted, 18K is still high for me being a student and all, but 15K would be manageable. I've already got about $3000 in savings dedicated for the downpayment on a car. I plan on saving up until at least $5k before I go out and seek financing but I KNOW the car i'm going to get will be the Crossfire Coupe! Now its only a matter of time.

I figure that even with the higher insurance rate and financing of about 8K or so, it will be a lot more affordable than just pouring my money into the Volvo. I'm not joking when I say I spent $1000 on it in December and $1300 on it in January just in rainy day repair costs. That cut into my savings really badly.

Anyways, I hope to make some friends here and learn a lot from you guys about the car!

Peace!

IT:

Welcome. There are some great deals on Crossfires out there. Probably better than what you just saw. Look around on the forums, including the for sale forum. It should give you some good ideas.

Thanks for the boost! And yeah, I really look forward to hopefully landing a good deal. As I save some more money and hopefully keep my wagon from sucking anymore money out of my pocket. THAT is the main concern right now o_o

Thumbs up Re: Soon-to-be New Crossfire Owner here!

Great Story, I enjoyed reading it & thank you for sharing it with us!

Welcome to the Forum & Good luck with your search.

BTW, you'll have No Problem finding a Great used '04 or
'05 for Under $15K, maybe even $12K with Mileage, but
then you won't have to wait to save the other $3K!

Be sure & get one under 50K miles so you can buy the 7/70 Max
Care Warranty if you can afford it, it will pay for itself
& you can't afford unknown $1,000+ repairs that may
come up!
Check Max Care Warranty Prices on this site,
there are a lot of threads on it or PK 'Todk64', he'll get you
a Great Quote on a Chrysler Max Care Warranty.

My Best to you in your Search & you're going to Just Love
your Crossfire, like we all do!

Bill

Woo! See there we go. Things I didn't know. I had no idea that there might be some out there for around 12K. And I definitely didn't know about MaxCare coverage. My decision to join up here early seems to already be paying off!

Heck, it sounds like I might be able to pull off getting one sooner that I thought by what you guys are saying! I'll talk to my GEICO rep tomorrow to check out just what i'd be looking at for insurance costs. Hopefully, my good-student and "6-years, no accidents" discounts will transfer over and cut some of the expense.

sell you kidney, you only need 1.. you could probably net 10k for it. Seriously though, good luck, I'm sure you'll love the car as much as I love mine (maybe)!

You know, this is a very friendly forum. I was seriously braced and ready for some less-welcoming responses seeing as I don't have the car yet. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
I believe there are some insurance agents on the site that may give a little input on insurance. You might also want to do a search on the site for threads about insurance. I know there is one on here that was titled something like "how much are you paying for insurance" or something like that, check it out if you can find it.
