Default Headlight issues

Hi All,

I have two issues with my headlights. The first is the drivers side low beam is aimed anywhere but at the road! I am going to guess this is because the bulb is not correctly installed and I will give that a shot my question is at what height above ground should the major illumination be at say 20 ft in front of the car? If I had the light turned on a wall 20 ft away about how high should the main illumination be?

My second issue is with the pitting and discoloration of the outer headlight cover. I've read a couple of threads on this but one thing that I've not been able to figure out is can this outside part be replaced or does the whole headlight assembly have to be replaced? The previous owner put some sort of sticky film on the tops of the headlights sort of looks like window film If anybody has experienced this before is there a safe way to get this film off?

Thanks for any help

Steve Rock
