auto rear spoiler
I like the wing, but it is annoying for me because in my drive I do ~60mph for 2-3 minutes between stoplights. So my wing is constantly going up and down. Plus, it must look pretty ridiculous to anyone watching me.

When you hit speeds of approximately 95 mph. an audible warning will sound, warning you that you are now reaching speeds where the wing truly needs to be raised for stability.
This is why I like having the ability to raise it when I feel it's necessary. I usually manually raise it if I'm on the highway when it's raining and I'm cruising 65mph or bettter also, just to be on the safe side.
So here's what I did as I don't like my spoiler going up at 60mph, would rather have it go up around 75-80 or when I want it to.
Pulled fuse #20, used male spades and wired to switch with inline fuse.
Installed floor switch from Grainger #4KA14 from LineMaster (T-91-D) $17.80.
When switch is off no spoiler, when switch is on spoiler works as normal.
I leave it off until I want it to go up, again 75-80 or........flip the switch with my foot and it goes up. Once up it won't go down til the programed 39mph, oh well at least it won't go up leaving the drive way.......kidding!

I know this is an old thread, but just wanted to throw in my thoughts on the subject.
I always leave the spoiler up, I think it looks cool up and I always hit 65 in my commute so it's going to go up anyways. If I didn't think it'd need to go down for some reason I'd put it up and then pull the fuse.

i was actually thinking about creating a thread about this, to see what people prefer. i usually always have the spoiler up. im actually surprised at the number of people that keep it down all the time. interesting!
I think the car looks great with the spoiler up or down.
As for the safety aspect - it's worth having the spoiler go up - it's there for a reason; not just show. Remember what happened to Audi TT drivers before spoilers were fitted... see HERE although some say it was much a do about nothing; there were fatal crashes in Germany. Rear end would lift and lose all control; wasn't just the spoiler on the TT though.. it had other issues also.

But since the audible alarm doesn't go off until you reach speeds in excess of 95 mph., I think I'm OK crusin our Nations highways and By-ways on dry payment at close to the posted speed limit with my spoiler down.
But then that's just my opinion.

Also, my spoiler has been intermittently staying in the up position for over 6 months, and for someone who loves their car with it DOWN, itis extremely frustrating.....
