Default auto rear spoiler

Is there a way to deactivate the spoiler from coming up at a set speed or raise the set speed?

You can simply pull the fuse, or install an on/off "Viagra" switch like I did, and have partial control over it.

did you install the swithch right at the fuse box? does the fuse for the spoiler have anything else on it? Do you know wich fuse it is? No problem I just think cruising down the freeway the spoiler hurts the gas millage and the rear visability and is not needed.

Yes I just pulled the fuse, split it in two, and ran a wire to each prong. (just be sure to add an in-line fuse to the wire)
I then ran the wire into the interior to an on/off switch. I eventually plan on installing an old fashion floor mounted head light dimmer switch and hook it up to that.
The fuse is only for the spoiler.
Check your owners manual for it's location #, I don't have my car here (it's at the dealer) or I'd check to see which one it is.
Very simple modification to do, and gives you the power to keep the wing down until you want it to go up.

If Not In Auto Mode Would It Only Work With Switch Manually Or Not

Snakewolf,
Installing the kill switch simply shuts off the current to the wings motor. So when the wing is in its "auto mode" it won't go up automatically between 60 and 65 mph. An audible alarm will still sound at speeds of approximately 90 mph to let you know the wing is not activated, at a speed where it's truly needed.
Once you activate the switch to it's "on" position, the wing will operate in it's normal manner, and automatically come back down at speeds of around 35 mph.
Manual mode will only operate as long as the on/off switch is in it's on position.

I pulled the fuse. It worked the only down side is the little light on the spoiler switch blinks now. I wish their was a way to just raise the pre set speed to 90mph so the manual mode still worked. It will be interesting to see if my mpg goes up at all.

I would like to reopen this thread as I also would like to know if there is some way of reprograming the spoiler activation speed to 75-85. I could live with the aux switch but would rather not. Sh&t I hit 60 in the driveway.......kidding. It does come up way to soon for my liking.

Thanks for the help,

Dave

With no way of explaining it, my spoiler has raised on its own on two different occasions when I started her up and the 'raised / not raised" button was flashing. Any thoughts? Possibly time for new battery? Yet, no 'battery' icon flashing on in the dash....

A low battery will activate the spoiler, happened to me a couple of times before i changed mine for a new one.

OK I'm guessing the spoiler can not be programed or you guys would have been all over it! Help me find a floor mounted switch that I can mount on the floor way up high by left foot. Not the bare old fashion headlight switches we are used to but a larger diameter mushroom over dome type surface mounted switch. You know a smarter than the engineer switch, I've been looking online for days.

Thanks for the help,

Dave

There is one thing to remember. The little motor that raises the wing only has so much power. One reason that the wing raises at the lower MPH is due to force. If you have it raise at a higher MPH, the motor is having to work harder to force the wing up. It might be possible to break the mechanics.

Just an observation...

or is it just at a lower speed to ensure that the police don't have an easy collar when they see a popped up spoiler (also, I would imagine, the reason for the manual raise button)?

That spoiler is there because the corporate attorneys wanted it there. They were concerned about the car being unstable due to some lift at speed from the shape of the rear deck. The lift probably doesn't get real bad until the car gets over 60mph, but the powers-that-be probably erred on the side of caution when they decided that 60mph would be the 'trigger' point, and 39mph was the 'retract' point.

I highly doubt that the trigger points in the computer can be reset, again due to corporate liability concerns.

I'm just glad I can have the thing stowed most of the time, until I get on the highway. It's actually not my favorite feature on the car...
