Definitely fuse #20...

And mine stays up pretty much constantly nowadays... No beeps, warnings, or lights. And at 130, the butt of my car is so firmly planted, it actually squats the car a bit.

Spoiler came up on its own in the garage. Did replace the battery but spoiler is still up and light is still flashing on the spolier up/down switch. Can't get it to go down. Any ideas? Haven't pulled the fuse yet. Is it worth a try? Will this reset the spoiler switch?

Is there actually a speed at which the wing on this car is truly needed?

Yes.......I assume it begins at a speed that occurs soon after the audible alarm sounds off.

Is there a particular speed at which its needed, no but the faster you go the more it helps.

I don't believe that. I think on street cars, wings and spoilers are purely cosmetic.

If you do not believe it, why did you ask what you must believe is a useless question?

When using my car as a daily driver the spoiler would drive crazy because it was always going up and down. I always wished they set the deploy speed higher to 70 or 75MPH. I believe some Porsche models are set at a higher speed. The solution for me was to manually deploy it and keep the wing up at all times.

Tell that to the numerous people that died in the early Audi TT...

In J.J's defence, I'll partially agree. I think the wing deployment speed of 65 mph. was designed more as an "American" gimmick, (remember 65 is still the Limit in most U.S.Cities) rather than it actually being "Needed" at that speed. So essentially that would make it more of a "cosmetic" feature.
Where as the audible alarm sounding off at speeds above 90 mph (if the wing isn't activated) seems to be more in line for the "autobahn" capabilities of this car.

Because I don't know everything. That it is merely cosmetic is my opinion. I am always willing to change my option based on facts.

Remember, it's a spoiler... not a wing. A spoiler breaks or causes laminar airflow to break away from the vehicle at high speeds. These cars, especially with the front lower OML air dam in place will generate a laminar flow causing the upper flow to accelerate to meet the lower flow. The accelleration creates a low pressure point on the rear of the vehicle which creates lift... lift at high speed is great for an aircraft but sucks for rear stability control of a car. With the warning signal not engaging until 90 MPH or greater I am sure the 62 MPH deployment speed provides plenty of margin between scheduled deployment and the point where the laminar flow could become an issue. For those that enjoy the "smooth" look of the rear of the vehicle... the German engineers didn't followup with a warning system for nothing...

2 cents...

Kenng, is it safe to say that a "spoiler" never mimics a wing, but "sometimes" a wing can mimic a spoiler?
Being an Aerospace Engineer, I thought you might be the one to ask.
