It's to show a point. If you are breaking the law, it does not matter if you've only been breaking the law for 15 days. The OP states that since he has only been breaking the law for 15 days, the LEO should have overlooked it. It don't work that way.

For taking all these "ap classes" you sure DO NOT HAVE A LOT OF COMMON SENSE.

I too was 16... (well 15 but couldn't drive!) when I got my Crossfire. I got a ticket around a year later for going 55 in a 45... and I thought that was bad.

60 in a 40 is a lot over, 20 MPH! Did he write you up for that much?

As far as your inspection. 15 days is 2 weeks, thats a LOT OF TIME to get an inspection. Of course you would offer to get an inspection, you're getting out of a ticket. If you had no gotten pulled over well tell me, would you still get an inspection / even be thinking about it? PROBABLY NOT.

Do a little research and calculate how much time you actually "save" by speeding. (Here's a hint, ITS VIRTUALLY NONE.)

no no I understand. I know I deserve the speeding ticket. thats fine I accept that and own up to it that was me being extremely irresponsible. I just didnt appreciate how he acted about the inspection sticker. Like I said, he took my phone number down, he knows exactly where I live cause he pulled me over at my house and didnt leave till I pulled my car in the garage. if he didnt believe me he could come check tomorrow. he camps the enterance to my neighborhood every day! I wave at him every day as I drive by.

you might look into teen court for your son to get one of those tickets removed from his record. it never gets reported to insurance companies and you dont have to pay the fine. just a thought. thats what I'm going to do. Just google [your city name] teen court and you should find it

I got mine at 15 too

and heres a hint... suppose I drive 40 and it takes me an hour to get home (it takes 45 min to an hour for me to get home depending on traffic). so 40 miles. now suppose I was doing 60. going 40 miles only takes me 40 minutes to get home. I saved 20 minutes. I have done the math and it saves me a good ammount. cause of how much time I'm in my car. I'm usually in it on average 2 and a half to 3 hours every day.

it takes 2/3 the time

No. I am going to give my total respect to posts like "Crossfire vs. McLaren SLR". A serious post like that deserves total respect.

don't kid yourself, no offense but I am bitter too. I got an inspection expiration ticket along with a parking ticket while in the District. Ofcourse he'll give you a ticket for an expired inspection. If he was really pissed he could have nailed you with more than that.

Remember Tex, what is the speed limit? I use to patrol the roads a lot. I had kids in my neighborhood. I would watch them speed home from school. They would speed till they saw me then slow down. I would watch this behavior for maybe 3,4 even 5 times, till I had had enough, then I would stop them...usually a warning if under 10 mph under, anymore than that, I would cite them...this guy may have seen you speed before and let it go, finally, he decided to stop you...either way try to stay within 5 mph of the posted speed limit and you will be fine...I agree he should have warned you on the inspection, but it may be a money maker for them...who knows, and thanks for the suggestiion, Indiana has no teen court...and he just turned 21, junior in college ....good luck ....be safe...Doc

that was a horrible analogy about selling crack. you are actively selling illegal narcotics. I on the other hand was passively UNAWARE of my inspection sticker. I'm human, ok? in my opinion 15 days isnt a lot. I'll let you gene for a day and deal with what I go through. maybe then ull understand. I havent gone to bed before 2 AM in the past week. hopefully I'll get some sleep tonight before my last two AP exams tomorrow (oh yeah I'm not in AP classes... my school is wierd and we dont offer "AP courses" has to do with how they teach and class sizes and whatnot www.Cistercian.org check it out. I had to teach all the AP material to myself). Anyway its inspected and I plan on telling that cop so next time I see him (ie tomorrow) an telling him thanks for that ticket and sending yet another trivial case to jug up our legal system. I have to appear in court and show that my car is indeed inspected and I dont have to pay the fine

too bad I'm not allowed to drive anymore.

my gf is pissed that I dont have wheels cause she is a freshman and isnt old enough to drive yet :-/ whatever she can get over it.

Remember te...the old dog told you this, there will be plenty of women in your life, never keep the ones that love your car....being deprived of sleep is another reason not to speed...this old cop is going to bed...it will all be worth the hard work in the end....and I think his honor will throw out the inspection citation....see ya kid...Doc

i know about the girl. she's not in love with my car. its just now we have no convenient mode of transportation. thanks for the support. I think it might be my lack of sleep that was how I found myself doing 60 in the first place. I'm probably gunna go to sleep myself. I'm dead tired and have those last two AP exams tomorrow. gotta do well.

It probably didn't help that you were a 17 year old when you got pulled over, but 60 in a 40 is a bit much for any police officer to overlook and as a previous poster wrote, once you're pulled over...

Here in CT we've lived through a rash of fatal accidents among teens, most of which involved excessive speed. In the most notable incident, the 17 year old driving was killed along with his younger sister and a third passenger in his car. He was speeding and clipped the back end of a boat trailer being towed by a truck making a turn at an intersection. Oh, and it was the second time the kid had had totaled a car; his parents bought him a more powerful Subie WRX to replace the first one he wrecked.

Getting a speeding ticket sucks, living to complain about the expired inspection ticket, priceless.

No, it was a great analogy. The amount of days you were committing a crime should make no difference in whether you get cited. Even if it is a crime as simple as jaywalking, if you were doing it once or 15 times, you were breaking the law and the LEO was doing his job.

As for being passively UNAWARE of your crime, that suggests that you are not yet ready for the responsibility of driving a car.

It's not the responsibility of the officer to remind you with a warning. It's his swore duty to uphold the law. If it were me, I'd have cited it, too. If it were the only reason for the TS, it would have got a warning. But once you are pulled over for a violation, I cite anything else that warrants it.

Now you are trying to justify getting caught for your error. Look, most all of us speed. Some of us more then others.

There are areas that I never drive fast. Yet on Sat and Sunday mornings on the way to the golf course I rarely go under 100. But, that's at 6:30 am and I have never seen a police car (FHP) in that area for 5 years and I am on the turnpike and I 75 with virtually no traffic. There is really no place for them to hide and I have a Valentine radar detector. I am tempting fate. Eventually, I will get nailed. I understand the consequences. And like you I justify my speeding because I want save time. Twenty miles in 12 minutes instead of 25. Why, because I want to relax and have a good breakfast before golfing. Poor excuse. Of course it has nothing to do with the fact that I love going fast and the SRT likes going fast and I have always driven fast. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I am sure you brag about your car and how fast it is to your friends. That is only natural. You got caught. Suck it up as a learning experience. Mom and dad will give you the car back. That's what we do. We give you another chance. Just don't be stupid when you get your XF back.

Do what is right.

PS I also took her computer, phone,TV, gounded her for 5 weeks and made her pay for the tickets as well . Except for athletics, she had zero social life. Now she drives the speed limit.

Good luck on your AP tests. Get that 4. That saves parents $.

Disagree with the analogy to crack. You are comparing apples and oranges. Jaywalking is breaking the law, but you can't compare jaywalking to mugging someone.

Agree 100 %

As for being passively UNAWARE of your crime, that suggests that you are not yet ready for the responsibility of driving a car.

IMHO I don't buy that statement. The kids academics say differently. How many times did you spped and not get caught? How may times do you see police speeding in their police cars on there way home or back to the station! Does that mean they are not ready to be cops.

It's not the responsibility of the officer to remind you with a warning. It's his swore duty to uphold the law. If it were me, I'd have cited it, too. If it were the only reason for the TS, it would have got a warning. But once you are pulled over for a violation, I cite anything else that warrants it.
As you should. Then again, how many times have you let someone off for speeding or other minor infractions. You made a decision. Good bad or indifferent. We are all human.

Hopefully, this will be a learning experience that will produce positive results.

I do not even made a stop for less than 14 over. Whether you get a ticket or a warning depends on a lot of things. How much over, any other violations, attitude, etc. All these things help me decide.

I work in a small town, so traffic is just about all I do. I am a full time CO and part time Sheriff's Deputy. I am DOC and ACT120 certified. In my state, only the State Police use RADAR, yet they do very little traffic. We use VASCAR. That's why we only cite 14 and over. There is no way you are going to fight a 14+ and win.
