Re: Valor NVG720W stereo deck replacement
Hi everyone,
I am researching a new stereo deck for my 2004 coupe as mine recently took a hike. I have come up with 2 possibiliy's via the forum. The (JVC KDN-X5000) and the (Valor NVG720W). DickBee7631 (forum member) suggested this last one. It has most if not all options of the JVC and a 7 inch screen for about the same price. Sounds almost too good to be true at around $700.00. My question is this. Has anyone bought this deck? If so what can you tell me about it?
1.Any problems since istallation?
2. Was there any mods that had to take place in order to install?
3. If so, what was necessary?
4. How has it performed since the installation?
Thanks much............mtnsong............Martin

yes it is. i've had 3 of those in 3 different cars. the great thing about the 7000 is it has the maps built in on the hard drive. no need for the map "disks" to be in the slot as you drive, which leave's the one slot open for cd's or dvds. and its got the whole US on it spit into regions. plus the flash drive is very helpfull. like a memory card in a camera. you can put your own tune's on it. it will only hold a 128meg card. but its still handy to have.
Thanks for the information. In terms of installation, did you install it of have it pro installed?
Was there any additional parts or add on harness's that I would need to buy for the installation? Any problems at all with the deck since you have installed it? And, is the nav
updateable via download or DVD?

i had it professoinally installed. Tearing up an interior is not something i want to do. i'd rather pay someone who does that as their job, rather than me stubling along not knowing what i'm doing. there are install instructions in the manual for this unit if you like to do this stuff yourself. In the 3 i've had, i've never had any problem at all with operation or functionablilty. And since i had everyone professionally installed, i am not aware of any other pieces or parts that is needed to put it in with. i do not thing you would need anything, maybe other than a harness like with any aftermarket unit but if there was any other pieces, all that was already built in the the $ i paid for the install. As far as an update goes, i dont know if it is a cd that is put in the hard drive to upload the new map or if it is a downloaded program off your computer to put on the flash drive and load it that way or what mainly because there hasn't been an update for it since 2006. they would probably have one coming out soon. but dont let the 06 year be a hendering, i've never been any place at anytime that wasn't on the map. other than an occasional new subdivision or neighborhood would be all but it will still get you in the area because of the longnitude and latitude coord's that are in conjuction with the address you want to go to.
Great, now thats the 1st hand information I'm looking for. This is very helpfull as this is a lot of money and I do not want to make a huge mistake on this. I appreciate taking the time to write this reply. Martin.........
