What to look for in used Crossfires?
Hi Guys, I did a search and didn't see what I was looking for. Basically I'm in Tampa and looking at used Crossfires (2004-2005). There seems to be some pretty good cars with low prices and low miles in Florida.
What should I be looking for in the used cars?
Any known problem areas with those years?
I'd like to take the car to a dealer to check it out prior to purchase of course.
I know tires and oil changes on these bad boys are expensive, and of course the mod bug gets pricey with any car. Anything else I should keep in mind?
Thanks ahead of time and I apologize if there is already a thread on this, I didn't see it.

Get a certified Crossfire then pay an independent mechanic to check it out, then buy an extended warranty. Next go out and buy a rosary and pray that Chrysler will still be in business during the duration of the warranty. Mine goes until 2014.
Every prayer counts on the Chrysler item. Hope for our sake that they make it. Most dealers are off over 20% from last year in my area. Oh, I've never had a problem with my 05, knock on wood, except when I left the key in the ignition which drained the battery.

Just test drove an 04 and I really liked it. Only problem i had was that I couldn't get the seat into a comfortable position and I think I may be too tall for the car. Anyone else 6' or taller have the same issue or found a solution?

Who's going out of business? There have been tough times before and they'll figure a way to cut and squeeze until better times come.

Once that was done, it's been very comfortable.
Now, how to keep the carwash guys from moving it.

You should look for rust at the bottom of the doors, both inside and out. Peel back the rubber a little to really make sure. Also, as a bargining point, listen for a faint tick in the engine when its started. Sometimes its acutally loud when the hood is open, but almost all crossfires have it to some degree. Also look at the headlights for scoring and foggieness. And of course make sure the seat heaters work for both the back and bottom.
As for seat adjustment for people over 6 feet tall, your just going to have to adjust to the fact that its a tight fit. Its never going to feel like your last car did especially if you got the 6 speed. I recommend concentrating on the leg room first and the back angle second.
