Default Expected Longevity of XF with Higher Miles

How do XF's hold up under heavy mileage? Does anyone have lots of miles? Any problems as the miles add up? I have a 2007 Limited Coupe with 21K miles. My roundtrip commute to work is 100 miles per day and I am wondering how much I will want to drive my XF to work. I have the option to rotate my work commute among several other cars in my "fleet". I enjoy driving my XF coupe and my route is great for a sports car with some nice curves (rare in my part of Ohio) which can inject a little fun into the daily trip. Any comments or opinions will be appreciated. I will not drive the XF in winter in any event.

I only have 16k on my 04.
It couldn't hurt to search that on the MB forums as there will be older cars running the same drivetrain.

I have an 04 and have just over 70,000 and I have not had a problem yet! Its my daily driver and I drive it hard most of the time! A family friend has been MB mechanic for over 20 years and he told me that the SLK320 runs great and high milage isnt a problem!

The car will hold up under heavy milage. IT IS A BENZ
However, while the drive train will take a lot, I would suspect the usual Benz failings.

Blower fans, especially interior, will get noisy and fail.
Window regulators will fail.
The glass may separate from an otherwise well functioning regulator.
Light bulb sockets will fail, espcially in the trunk area
Rubber seals around doors and window will fail.
Speakers, I guarantee will fail.
Any rocker switches will likely fail or just get winky
The cable system on the roadster top will fail, especially if you don't keep it well lubricated.

Most of this starts on a Benz at about 120K miles in my experience. That's why they drop to nothing in resale after 120K.

I would suggest that since our cars are truly Benzes, they are good and reliable to about 120K at which point they will still run like hell but irritate the owner with pesky BS issues as suggested above.
My two Benzes are never, that is never, completely at 100% Some kinda of physical law or something German.

It's a lot like owning a cat. No such thing as a free kitten. Never quite understand the attraction but just can't get rid of the liittle buger.

100 miles a day?!
I've finally found my long-lost daily commute brother!
Roughly the same here, Phipps: 55 miles one way, 95% rural including the occasional 'whoops, the weather man was wrong' light snowfalls. Both Xfires have been near flawless, the Coupe more so that the SRT (The SRT has had speakers replaced (Franc is right on about that one!) & the CD player twice.). Nothing mechanical so far (crosses fingers) on either. The SRT has about 31K, the Coupe 58K.

I have to drive about 90 a day - but we just went to 4 days a week (10hr). So that helps save gas and some wear.

We're thinking about doing the same thing at our place. It's tempting especially for the reasons you mention, 70. The only downer would be doing that in winter........not that I don't already drive in the dark in the morning & drive in the dark at night plus then I'd be gone 12 hours a day instead of 10.
Decisions, decisions.........

There was an article in the KC Star a couple of months back about a traveling salesman with a Benz that had the same engine as the XFire......he'd put something like 440,000 miles on it with no major issues. Besides, if you bought your 07 after June 07 I think.....you've got a lifetime powertrain warranty.

i do 90miles a day and drive on weekends so i'm racking them up pretty quick as its my only ride. so far everything has been dead reliable until my maf went and also killed the throttle body electronics. all seems fine now.

my coworker bought his used a few months before me and he's got just a little less of a drive, but double my mileage and he's had no issues. i think he's pushing 70k+ right now. just make sure you buy rear tire's that have some tread life and you'll be fine. he's running nitto 555's now, and im running re760 sports.

So far so good. I like having a 3 day weekend every week. I have Mondays off.
Winter could be tough..but it is pretty dark anway.

Yeah but your hours turn in to 48 instead of 50....

Wow, 440,000 miles that's pretty impressive. I bought my 05 roadster last Feb. with 5,000 miles on it and will put about 5,000 miles per year on it. I now have 8,800 miles on the OD.

Let's see 440,000 - 10,000 = 430,000 divided by 5,000 = 86 years from now I'll have 440,000 miles on my Crossfire. That's pretty cool until I realized that I'd be 151 years old then, shi**** my pants and drooling all over, and for sure couldn't find my Crossfire and wouldn't know what to do with it if I did. And even if I could find it I wouldn't be able to find any gasoline to run it as the world ran out of oil 5 years ago.

This is all too depressing maybe I should be putting more miles on my car. See Ya tomorrow, I'm going out for a drive.

Have 101,500 on my '04 Limited and have only had to adjust the alignment twice. No other mechanical issues. Yes the blub in the trunk does not last more than a couple of years.

Okay, so I only have 54K on my 04, but was my daily driver for quite some time. But I was driving it about 150 each day from the commute. So now its my daily for the summer, and no longer for the winter. I think i have had to change a headlight, a marker light, and tires. The only thing I haven't fixed is now i have a squeek when i open up the drivers door

05 LTD as my daily driver. Just broke 62k. I have tendencies to get out on weekend and go on rediculous 1000+ mile road trips around Florida too. So far, not a single issue aside from whatever warranty has covered. But otherwise, has been flawless. +10 Germans!
