Angry Where's the water coming from!?!?!?

So yesterday, I washed my car yeserday and after leaving the carwash, I see that I have water under glove box and it is dripping down onto the carpet below on the passenger side. I'm so upset right now because I can't find where it's coming from and I have all but that side of my interior tore out. Can't believe it. Anyone else notice their car leaking. BTW, mine is an '07 with 6k on the clock. I'd take it into the dealership but I'm afraid they'll say you tore your car apart adn that's the problem but I haven't been on that side of the car so that's not gonna be a valid excuse but you know they'll say something.

Thanks in advance.

Water leaking in can be one of the hardest things to find. It could be leaking in one spot, and travel a good distance before it finally reaches a point where it falls.
If it fell under the glove box, I would guess it came thru your vent, and may be leaking from your interior filter.
Have somebody hold a garden hose over your outside vent, with normal household water pressure and see it you can see any water coming in.
It may have been the car washes high pressure water that was sent up a different direction simply by the force of the sprayer.
Good Luck

The only thing that I've seen on these forums related to this is blockage of the tray underneath the windshield cover, which prevents water from draining properly out of the bottom of the car. The blocked drain creates a spillway for water directly into the HVAC air intake.

Also, if you have a chance, remove the torx screws holding the perforated, insulated plastic shield in the passenger footwell. Under that shield you will find both the cabin air filter and the HVAC motor housing. Open up and inspect the cabin air filter for wetness/mold and inspect the HVAC motor housing for leaves, debris, and maybe even moisture.

well i don't know if this would be the same as thing. But I use to do auto glass and on a lot of the chevys and other modles there is a air intake on the passager side under the cowel where the wipers are. theres only a rubber gasket that goes around the the hole for the air intake. and if that gasket came loose or bumped off water would run down it and come down under the glove box on the passager side. On the chevy cars it was a easy fix just poped the cowel off glue the gasket back on and its good to go. I don't know if this is the same on crossfires but it sounds like the same problem.

hope this help...

Check the windshield and make sure it has the chysler star on it. If it does not then someone did a poor job on your front glass. I had a leak on my ar due to that issue. Resealed the passenger side a pillar and it has been dry ever since. The water was leaking in and running behind the dash and down to the floorboard.

This is a really common problem and it can lead to the blower motor catching fire. As of yet Chrysler offers no repair though this problem is a manufacturing defect. I suggest everyone with this issue file a complant https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ Hopefully we can get a recall and get Chrysler to fix this problem before someone's Xfire catches fire and burns up.

Hmmm...this is a 3 year old thread.

Most of us have figured out to keep the cowl inlet clean of leaves and debris that cause the blockages and leaks.

A RECALL?

...did you have it checked by the car dealer or any auto glass repair specialist with regards to your issue? i know of one that can look at and advise what's wrong, they are Three Rivers Auto Glass of Pittsburgh specializes in auto glass repair and replacement for cracked or chipped car glass and affordable window tinting.

This is one of four identical posts today by this so called new member. Oops, I see he joined in 2009, so not so new, must be on a mission. Made four posts and all today.

I am on a mission I want everyone that has this problem to see this no mater what thread they open and to see the link for consumer complants.

It is not our problem it is Chryslers. We shouldn't have to jerry rig our vehicles in order for them to be safe.

And I cleaned out the debris at the beginning of the summer when this first happened, but it still doesn't solve the problem. I live in Tampa in it rains a lot here we got 3 inches yesterday and another 1 this morning. It rains faster then the car drain. Here's why you may not be noticing it.

Next time it rains get under the dash and check this out even if you don't have the leak yet I bet you'll still find water. The blower motor compartment holds about a half a gallon of water and the fabric covering the inside of the wall that covers it is like a sponge that will hold a good amount of water itself. The blower motor compartment has to fill and that fabric has to become saturated before it will start leaking onto the floorboard.

If you're not getting a ton of rain in your area it can dry up before you notice it, but the motor is still getting soaked and that can cause a fire in your cabin.

Hi rcompart.I had this trouble a couple of weeks ago, water was pouring in gust as you described. It turned out to be a blocked water run off drain for the windscreen.Simply put a airline into said hole and blow until it clears, gust run some water over it when your done to make sure its clear. You might want to lift the carpet as well make sure everything's dry. When I checked mine there was a small swimming pool there
Hope this helps

The original post by Mr RCompart was three years ago. You are too late with the answer, the car has floated away since then.

The funny thing is it wasn't the drain, it was the seal around the windshield that they ended up figuring out. But as you said, the car floated away long ago. LOL
