Thinking about buying, HELP!
Thinking about buying, HELP!
I found a SSB 2004 Crossfire w the Dk/Lt Slate Grey Interior.
19,000 miles
98th 2004 off the line.
2nd owner
1st owner was a Chrysler Exec.
New All season Michelin Tires included with car
Original tires are on car
Has the Chrysler "Maximum Care" warranty on it and is good until 2012.
Warranty covers over 5,000 parts on the Crossfire. Electrical, Mechanical, etc. & can be transferred for $50.
Car has no dents, scratches or interior defects.
The seller wants $15,000, do you guys think this is a good deal?
I think I may offer 14,000 or 14,500

Re: Thinking about buying, HELP!
Offer him 14k,if he dont bite and you "gotta have it" offer to split the difference. I can say that in the last 30 days pricing has been dropping. When the snow starts to fly and the temps go to zero(along with all the economy woes) prices are gonna drop-substantially.Hell I can go buy a brand new Chevy 1/2 ton 2whl drive truck 15 miles from where I live for $10070.00-THATS 10K FOR A BRAND NEW TRUCK.Original sticker $19K. If they are gonna start giving away new product, then they will be really giving away used.---------------Dave

Re: Thinking about buying, HELP!
before I bought my crossfire, two weeks ago, I was on automart and found a bunch that had around 8,000 miles that were 2006s and were priced around 13,000. they are all black and were fleet cars. I was on several different internet locators and there did seem to be quite a few of these. some were on smaller mom and pop lots which makes me think that a bunch of off lease 2006s went through the auction. Hope this helps. Regards Howard
Re: Thinking about buying, HELP!
Where I live, there are only 4 srt6's for sale, and that is a 250 mile radius, from southwest mo. nothing local. I payed 14000 for mine, one of 2 locally. But had aftermarket wheels and tires on it. He wanted 15 as well, I offered 14, and he asked if I was serious, and done deal. Depending on your location, it might greatly diminish your choices. But if the warranty is good, I'd definately go for it.
Re: Thinking about buying, HELP!
Hey how's it goin everyone? Been lurking for about a month or two now, deciding to make my first post useful to at least "convert" someone.
First off...what you think is a deal is something YOU should decide, but I'll let you know what I bought mine for:
14,000
Alabaster
Stock Chrome Wheels (Didn't see many of these, I'll explain later in the post)
"Seater" leather interior (Once again, same deal as above)
5,600 Miles
6 Speed
2004
I agree with the last poster, Find and SRT-6 and make sure you might not prefer that. Personally I just couldn't get over the fact it's an automatic, but know that if you require a 6-Speed any performance mods are going to be costly and there's only so much you can do.
The car that I bought, technically I'm the 3rd owner. A San Francisco Advertising company bought it with every option possible as a rolling billboard, but the bumpers were slightly messed up in shipping. (you know those scratches that dont hit the paint but hit a big area), almost as if it had not been secured to the truck properly. The second owner bought it, put about 50 miles on it, and became injured to where he couldn't drive a 6-Speed. The factory warranty transferred (only the Drivetrain part though, so make sure to inspect the car THROUGHLY). All in all I'd say, don't compromise on a vehicle. Sit throught them until you have that moment that I'm guessing WE all had...you get wrapped up in a bucket seat that feels like a tailored suit, start an engine that sounds like frank sinatra's singing through your muffler, and have the best driving experience of your life.
What I compared to before buying:
2005 Lotus Elise - Great car, no, AWESOME marvel of engineering, but just no practicality.
2007 SRT-6 - It's an automatic, I'm a manual, amazing vehicle, just I couldn't get over it.
2005 350z (the one with 300 hp) - Faster than xfire, yes, but the ride is so uncomfortable.
2003 s2000 - See above...
2009 Civic SI - it's a Honda.
2009 Accord V6 - It's a Honda... and only availble with the automatic for the V6
This is all just my PERSONAL buying experience, and I hope it can be of some help to you.

You all seem pretty cool, so can't wait to share some feedback. Oh, and I got to drive some old guy's GT-R the other day. That was more fun than the crossfire, not going to lie...But only a little bit.

Re: Thinking about buying, HELP!
I am 18 also. I have wanted a Crossfire since they first came out in 2004. The warranty on this car covers just about everything. Wiring harnesses, anything I want even the radio. The only things it doesn't cover are like wheels, the leather covers for the seats, you get the picture. The warranty is good until 2012 and is transferrable for $50. It is Chrysler's Maximum care warranty so it makes me feel better as I know that these cars can occassionally have their issues. I know I want a Crossfire, I didn't even want to drive any other cars. Since I live in MI this car would be a summer only car, and I think I would only drive it a few thousand miles a year.

Personally, as much as I want to Zip-Zip this car... I'm waiting until the warranty expires... Or at least just going to do the TVT 250 rather than 265...
(The TVT 250 keeps the engine bay looking completely stock, check out their stuff, it's amazing.)
