Default Newbie Question

1) I've read through my Owner's Manual (Auto trans) and it mentions "Multipurpose Tool" used to free a stuck transmission lever. It is supposed to be in the glovebox, but is not in the car anywhere.

2) The fog light switch comes out two "stops/clicks." The first "stop/click" activates the fog lamps. Does anyone know what the second "stop/click" is for?

3) I found the tirefit and car jack. To the right is a bin. Does anyone know the purpose of this?

thanks

  1. Some folks didn't get one. Mine was in with the jack and pump. A flat screwdriver and wrench thingy.
  2. The second pull position is for rear fog light-Euro only.
  3. Beer. Whiskey (Think Saint Bernard). Detail equipent. Or a Mercedes Benz First Aid Kit. I found one on eBay.

Folks have checked-it replaces one of the wierd shaped lights in the back and is red for euro-cars. The circuit is not there.

Thanks.
My Morgan has a fog lamp switch for the rear. When on, it is as bright as a brake light and totally illegal on this side of the big pond. Also, the MINI folks came with a switch missing for the rear fog lamp. Someone came up with a way to wire in the fog lamps with the brake lights so that our MINI now has twice the light on braking.

Again, thanks for your response--I was rather hoping someone here had already figured out a workaround.

My multipurpose tool was in the bag between the seats....would not have found it if not searching every nook and hidey hole in the car.

Cool! One of the Grapevine Crossfires!
When I first looked at this picture I thought that I saw T-Tops. That might have worked with this car. Coupe or T-Tops or Roadster.

Just for argument sake, the rear fogs are NOT illegal in the US. My 2003 Audi's both have them standard and in fog or very heavy snow they light up bright like brake lights.

2003 Audi A6 2.7T MT6
2003 Audi A4 3.0 MT6

BTW, the first one is my winter beater and the second one is my daughter's reward for 3 years of straight As.

True. But, many auto manufacturers were not sure of there status in each state. Many foreign manufacturers just left them out. I guess Audi, as well as Morgan, decided to risk it (big smile).
