Default Re: Extended warranties

I got my exteneded warranty in 2008 when I bought the car. I figured it was the best way to spend my tax return.

I bought the car and the warranty from Mitsubishi, which oddly enough was right next door to Chrysler and we owned by the same person.

I usually have a great memory but I cannot recall that far back if the warranty allowed me to directly take it to the Chrysler location for a fix.

Also, in 2009/10 when the economy really went to Hell, I've heard most of these extended warranty companies could cancel your plan all together without you knowing it which is scary in its own right.

I luckily have not had to use mine. I bought new tires and had an oil change since 2008(< I drive extremely rarely)

My plan was for 60,000 miles of which I was certain I'd park the car and have it become a garage queen at 50k. Also it only runs for 6 years so nearing the latter part of 2011, I'm concerned that I didn't get the best use out of my ext. warranty and $1200 it cost me.

I'm hoping by 2014 when all's said and done with the plan, I'm wealthy enough to take on any cost that comes my way or the ability to get another warranty plan. I'd hate for my 2005 to be too far out of date to be applicable for the program.

I don't remember the name of the program but I will try to post it when I find the paperwork. I would like to know if anyone knows of it and if anyone has it and had work done.

Andys, are you sure of the expiration date? I thought most of these extended warranties were based on the 'in-service' date and not the date purchased. Just a little confused here.

Oh sorry,

I bought the car used in 2008; its a 2005 model.

The original warranty was out 3 months after I purchased it.

I bought it on St.Patricks day and went back in April after taxes to buy the 60k/6 service plan.

I was told the 6 years starts when the old original warranty expires. And of course the 60k is total driving miles. I only have 23k on the car now.

Question Re: Extended warranties

has anyone out there heard of national protection service? they are an extended warranty company from NJ. they contacted me about their service and offered me a great deal. i looked them up on the bbb website and it says they are reputable. what do you think? ever heard of them? i have an '04 crossfire with 61k, and the offer i was given was for 40000 more miles or 3 years, which ever comes first for $250 down and $119 a month for 18 mo. this is said to cover the entire 3 year contract. drive the car back and forth to work, and dont put many miles on it. sound like a good deal. what do you think? ever heard of them or anything like this before?
