Rear Spoiler Help
Sorry for all the questions but this is one I have wanted to ask for a long time. It may have been talked about already so maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
Is there something we should do to the back spoiler? All of those moving parts I would think eventually need some kind of lube. I am too afraid to put anything on it that would attract dirt. Is it best to just leave it alone or is there a way to service it. Maybe something the dealer can do?

The dealer will use a spray lube on all of the moving joints/hinges. I use one product for applications like this ZEP45. It has 2 different forms of Teflon (little spheres and little plates) and is in a light oil spray. The light oil spray evaporates away, leaving behind the Teflon. Great stuff.
And after 3-5 days, it doesn't attract (or catch) dirt.
It's mainly sold to institutions and wholesale (case of 12), but I found a place that sells single cans:

Would any dry powdered lubricant work. I don't want to put anything on there that would attract dirt. I am afraid a WD 40 type of spray would be the worst thing to do. Am I wrong?
That was a really good question....I never even thought of that. I'm going to have to make sure either I or the dealer take care of mine so I dont have any issues with the spoiler in the future!
In my experience, "dry spray" lubes don't penetrate. They tend to sit on the surface. WD40 is not a lubricant. It is a solvent. Itried to explain what my recommendation does that the others don't. The oil evaporates AFTER it has carried the true lubricant(Teflon and Vydax) into the mechanism. I've used this stuff for over 20 years and I like it because it doesn't attract (?) dirt.
Do what you want...
