Default Windshield washer fluid tank

I just got my oil changed and the mechanic told me that my washer fluid tank was cracked. I was wondering if anybody has replaced theirs before and how much it would cost from a dealer or if there is anywhere else i could get one?

How does he know it is cracked, since it is enclosed in the fender well? It is most likely the overflow because you cannot fill it all the way up to the neck of the tank.

He told me that it was cracked half way up the tank. He may have mistaken it for something else but I'm not sure. I'll have to take a look at it tomorrow.

Search for a picture. Search using "leaking windshield washer fluid" Sorry I do not know how to copy a thread's address.

if you overfill it, it will **** all out thru the fender/sideskirt, when empty just add 1 gallon. i assuem thats what happened.

if it really is cracked and the above scenario is nto the case let me know and ill get you a price on a new one.

He probably tried to top off the washer fluid like any other car, and when he reached the overflow level, assumed that it must be a crack in the tank because it couldn't be filled to the top. I thought the same thing the first time I added fluid.

I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow and see if I can see anything and then give the mechanic a call and ask why he thought it was cracked. Thanks for all the help.

Interesting, I just had the oil changed a couple weeks ago and the tech called me out to go over what he was doing and pointed out the windshield washer reservoir must have a leak since it ran out all over the floor. He said the only way to replace it was to remove the fender. But, the washer seems to work just fine now. Must be the same with mine, the guy overfilled it.

So I called my mechanic today and asked why he thought my tank was cracked. He told me when he started pouring fluid in it was spilling on the ground and assumed it was cracked. He never really saw anything just took a guess that it was cracked. So all is fine. Thanks for all the help.

I knew it would overflow, my mechanic did not and he didn't tell me he was filling it so i never thought that it was overflowing. I guess he doesn't see a lot of these cars and therefore doesn't know too much about them.

The washer tank is accessable by removing the rear splash panel of the right front wheel well. Remove the wheel first & have at it!!

Maybe it's a little off topic, but when your tank spills that windshield washer fluid on the floor, make sure you get it all mopped up. Pets love it, and it will kill em just as fast as antifreez.

Hey guys I happened across this topic when I searched for fluid leak because mines doing the same thing. The difference is my sprayers dont seem to be working. Im using water to test it, could this possibly be why? Do I need to use actual wiper fluid? Anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

Water should have no problem unless it's below freezing. I would check the hoses to make sure they are connected and not plugged, and check the pump.
