how often do you do an oil change?

Like some of you said, it'll still say you have 1,000 miles to go before it needs a change. Does it have like a digital countdown or something? lol...or how does it work?
I've only test driven a couple of them, so I'm not that knowledgeable of them. I'll have to download the manuals and read them one day.
Thanks for all the info everyone!

Just make sure to reset the FSS every oil change.
Oh and I also change it when it tells me to. I put most of my miles on my car during the "winter" here in FL and ride my bike during the summer so I am not a high mileage driver either. I have had my car a year and only changed it twice. Once when I bought it last April and yesterday.
Call me "Old fashioned", but I change mine every 3K, no matter what. I figure it's cheap (sort of) insurrance. But I should say she is my daily driver and I have a short commute, on really cold days I drive the long way to work to make sure she gets up to running temp.

Well that's a downside IMO because premium will make a big difference to your wallet! I hope that gas prices don't go back up to $4 a gallon
Does everyone else fill up Premium too? Or have any of you had problems with Regular Unleaded?
And I'm guessing that 87 is a no go for you right, strupgolf?

I have to laugh every time I read that somebody is considering running regular gas in their xfire....if saving money is that much more important than getting more performance, they should be driving Corollas, not Crossfires.
I'll probably get some flak for this, but I'm now 1600 miles past the 7500 mile change indicator. The dipstick says my oil is barely down at all and the oil is still a fairly clean reddish color. A little dirty, but not much. (You should see my lawnmower's!) I plan on changing soon, but at $135, I'm not in too much of a hurry.
There is no 7,500 change indicator. When first reset it reads 7,000. As you drive & it monitors the RPMs, temp, (&whatever).....it determines how many miles to knock off of that initial 7,000.
For instance, say you change your oil when the odometer reading is exactly 20,000....& you reset the FSS...it then says 7,000. If you drive like an old fart......then when the odometer reads 28,000.....the FSS may still show 1 to 2,000 miles left before the next recommended oil change.
So, if you mean your FSS shows a negative 1,600 (-1,600)......hell, you may have driven ten to twelve thousand miles with that oil already!!
Remember, if you buy the oil & filter yourself & pay Walmart to do the labor...=about $80. Just make sure you get the Mann filter or something as good....as I know for a fact the STP & Purolator filter kits have O-rings that are too thin & you will get a leak around the filter housing!!!!

Oh, by the way...you'll probably have to do the FSS reset yourself....the first oil change was free on my 07 by the dealership.....they didn't even do the reset & if your wanting to preserve your LifeTime Warranty...you better make sure that reset occurs or Chrysler will probably be able to tell & void your warranty!! & !! Save all receipts !!!!
