I recently got a new steering wheel but ordered the wrong color. I thought it was the dark grey for the base but I got the lighter grey instead. Can it be painted to match the interior or would i be better off getting the correct color?

 

I don't think you'll ever get it to stick.The leather gives just a bit and will cause never-ending problems. Cracking, peeling etc.

dye would probably be better than paint, but i think it'll still wear off prematurely. x2 on the send it back.

Yes anything can be painted. The question should be "will the paint adhere and last". No. Forget paint, dyes, etc and save yourself money and frustration, just buy another wheel.

 

A friend of mine found a leather covered steering wheel for his Corvette but it was tan and he needed a black one. He painted it with something called "Marhyde" and 5 years later it still looked good.
Now that was 30 years ago, I don't know if they still make the stuff, but I would have to assume that there is probably something even better now.

 

Is the crossfire steering wheel leather? Can you treat it with a leather cleaner?
