Yeah it's funny Jim, that even though they only built 19134 AMX's, there must have been over 100,000 people who once owned one.

here is a pic of my son's AMX that he has owned for 18 years and he is only 32 now,, sorry for the thd jack but now you see where some of us get our inspiration. both are two seaters, both have fixed rear side window, one 93" wheel base the other 97" wheel base. Both are great fun to drive and not everyone has or knows what a crossfire or a amx is. WE DO.

As you can see, it's all about ride height, wheel choice, the proper offset, and clean body lines. Doesn't matter if you drive an econo car, muscle car, or pricey sports car.
I knew we got along for a reason LOL.

I am after the same thing, and I really wish I knew before I bought my 20s that I would not be able to lower it without serious modification

You should have seen my Bimmer from back in the day, I will try to dig some pictures out. Imagine E36 with no badging, doorhandles, or anything else to make it look anything less than absolutely clean plus much more, damn I miss that thing....

PS I have my new black powdercoat grill on the way and after install there will only be 1 thing on the ENTIRE car that is not black, the front wings. I know you were talking about painting yours or coating them, I am interested as well, I think I am going to install the new grill and have a member photoshop what it would look like black. If you end up painting yours, please send me pics

You should definitely post some pics of your e36. I always like looking at cleanly modded cars. My corrado is sort of like that. That car is also black and everything on it is black. Though I left on rear the badges, because 94 is the only year where the badges are brushed aluminum, so it's a rare piece. Otherwise, the car has a badgeless grill and eurolip (90mm instead of 55mm [IIRC]). I have coils on the car as well, but because the car is tracked, I didn't want to screw up the handling by slamming it--and suspension travel is a good thing! I guess my car looks similar to the corrado I had pictured, but mine has the euro spoiler, is a little taller but has similar style and color wheels.

The one thing that I will probably leave silver on the crossfire are the side strakes. I think those would actually look kind of cool on an all black car. It would break up the sea of darkness a bit. I was thinking of adding the headlight film you have on your car (I checked out your gallery), but I really want to maintain the brightness of the lights. But like you, I removed the crossfire badge, tinted the directionals and tails. Though I do have yellow-tinted fogs. I think it will really come together when the front is all black.

Hopefully, I can can find an extra grill and badges and get get those painted in the next few months. I'd love a set of black door handles from a base car, but I'm not sure if I would have to change my door locks as well. If I have to change the locks, I'd just get the silver handles painted black.

I will be able to help you with the extra grill on Friday just PM me

I like the fact that EVERYTHING is black on my XF, and have never cared for the silver accents (my mother has had a limited drop for about 4 years) but the carbon fibre strakes would look killer, but a little prcey for zero functionality, but damn would they look great on a murdered XF

I'll definitely IM you!

It would be interesting to see what a crossfire would look like with black satin paint instead of gloss. I'm not brave enough to do it on my own car though! I wonder if someone could photoshop it. I think it could look pretty cool.

I think it would look really awesome matte black. Check out this SLR to get an idea.

Great pics! I know exactly what you are talking about. I call the look Stock Enhanced. I like the look to be subtle, as if the car could have come off the assembly line. A little lower, larger wheels, a bit meaner, you know. I want people to scratch their heads a bit, and say, "Man, that is gorgeous, did it come that way?"

I like how you threw the Pro-touring Charger in that mix of Euros!

Check out pics in user Waldig's gallery (Woody). He has some very interesting nearly matte paint on his black SRT. I saw it at the dragon, very inetresting indeed....

Yup, that's exactly what I'm talking about! I think there are lots of different names for the "stock enhanced" style you are referring to--depending on the country of origin (which is kind of weird when you think about it). If i could have found some pics on the fly of a couple of Civic hatchbacks or clean 240sx/silvias, I would have added those as well.

Sometimes I think it's a blessing and curse that IMO, the crossfire needs a little bit of work to really look the way I'd like. SOmetimes I just wish I could go out to the car and have it as I would like it. The idea of spending a few thousand getting it where I really want and using quality parts/labor can be a bit much. On the other hand, every small mod gives the car a just a bit more of a focused look, which keeps my interest in the car. I've had my corrado for 9 years and it still isn't quite where I want it. It's about 95% there though. I hope it doesn't take this long for the crossfire!

I recently saw a new Audi A4 with the ultrasport package on it and thought it looked like perfection! The stance, the wheels, the color (also black!), the seats, interior--everything was perfect. Maybe an exhaust and ecu tune (it had the 2.0t motor) would make it perfect?

AllEuro, I liked the "JDM LOL" plate. Sums up my philosophy exactly, every time I see a ridiculous add-on, like a purple aluminum "Bruno" shifter

Cadetgray. was troubled a bit by you having both the Pentastar AND the "retro badge" emblem. Had you "punched" the ornament in the center of the "badge" it would have looked better IMO. Or a "Cordoba" badge above the ribbon.
d742_1.JPG

If you could find proper turbine style wheels for your "Cordobafire", it would be badass

When I first saw a Crossfire, my first instinct was to source mods to turn it into a triibute to the 1955 Mercedes Gullwing Coupe. Just couldn't source period correct wheels or radio for it. May revisit the project as a "best of" with Lorinser-style SLR wheels instead in future. Blaupunkt Hamburg, analog clock on the glovebox door, white shift **** and steering wheel, and LSD vertical doors. It would look sharp on a bright silver metallic Limited with red cedar interior.

That thought about the Pentastar and winged badge together did cross my mind, then I started to think that in most past examples the hood ornament and the radiator badge never were the same. For example the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot and the RR badge on a Rolls Royce or the Cormorant mascot and the Coat of Arms on a Packard, or the Goddess of Speed and the Coat of Arms on a Cadillac. Indeed if they are the same, I felt that it would simply be redundant logos. I see the Pentastar as the Mascot and the winged element as the car's "radiator" badge. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it...LOL

Excellent point about the RF logo...you just changed my mind about it and spared me the frustration of trying to find a Denon logo...LOL And you can be assured that I have plenty of GOOD TIMES in my Crossfire hehehe

These are NOT dressing, they are completely removing a stock item and replacing it with something superior, this could mean in an aesthetic form, maybe a performance form, or maybe because you think the factory item is ugly or poorly made. But it is not adding anything, it is deleting or maybe replacing. To each their own, but the look we are after is different than what you are after, good luck with it cadet, I still love the CF interior....
