Default Moldings On The Roof...

Anyone else have problems with that roof molding? The paint chips off the edge and I don't know why. I had them replaced a long time ago under warranty but they chipped again.

Are you talking about the 3/4'' wide strip of painted metal that runs the length of the roof above each door? If so, yeah, the paint has chipped off mine on the driver's side only. The rest of my paint job is fantastic, but this looks like it was thin to start with. I've always hand washed and waxed my baby and its never faced a brush or anything abrasive that would account for this unusual wear. I'll try to upload some pics.

Any recollection on how much it cost you to have them replaced when you did that?

No paint problems on either the SRT6 or the 2007.

Ok, here's what my paint looks like on the strip...pretty ugly. Anybody know if these just pop off for repainting?

Sorry about pic quality--blackberry on an overcast afternoon.

Ouch! My strips don't look that bad. Do you rin your car through a car wash or something? Just curious...

They come off and I had them replaced when I first bought my car. I think you can buy brand new ones from parts.com. Probably 67 dollars each strip.

No, like I said, I baby my baby--she's never seen an auto car wash or a brush since I owned hr. This has happened gradually over the course of the last year. You can see that the paint has almost flaked off in different spots but only on the strip, not on the adjacent roof panel on either side of the strip. In the picture I can almost see the thinness of the paint on the strip compared with the surrounding panels. The passenger side is unaffected.

Thanks for the info on their removal. I gotta get this taken care of asap.

BTW, spent the afternoon washing and waxing her--the rest has a molten wet look right now.

I am sure you take very good care of your crossfire. I think those panels may move a little while driving and rub against the roof. It probably happens on all Crossfires... some probably look worse than others.

xfirepower, it almost looks as though there isn't any clear coat on those strips... in your pics

Mines build #8059 built in sept of '03... my paint is all original and mine don't look like that!

blackcrossfire07, do you have any pics of you moldings?

I don't have any pics of mine. I need to take some. But it is very minor wear on the edges.
