Unhappy Karmann ceases to exist

It's very sad, but Karmann is now gone. They did not only a great job on the Crossfire, but on many other notable cars as well.

Karmann officially closes its doors

Dang, that's too bad. Another great company gone.
It must have been that 2nd set of badges and decals they sent me that did them in. Maybe I should have sent them back.

Does that mean that our badges are now collector's items?

Seriously - truly a sad day after 60 years of wonderful cars...

I saw a while back that they had filed for bankruptcy. I guess with the current state of the auto business they couldn't make it back. yes a very sad day. My Crossfire is one of the finest cars I've ever owned.

"A rift between management and unions is also said to be responsible for the company’s ultimate downfall"

It sounds like another case of a union shooting itself in the foot. This is really too bad. At least they recognized the Crossfire in the article.

The information posted by Left Lane News is incorrect. Karmann is still alive and well. There vehicle assembly line in Germany was shut down and they are restructuring in Germany, but their North American operations, are unaffected.

Karmann is well and is still supplying convertible tops to major OEMs. In fact, Karmann USA is operating successfully and just recently launched Karmann Classics, a new aftermarket unit, restoring convertible tops of classic Karmann Ghias and Beetle convertibles. Karmann continues to supply the top for the new Infiniti G37.

According to Left Lane News, Karmann may make a come back after all.
Karmann back in business?
Wouldn't that be nice.
