Default gas cap

hey guys, having a little problem. i went out to get gas last night and the gas attendant couldnt get my gas cap back on. the fuel door closes. the cap will not screw on. hung out there for about an hour trying to get it on. also had other people try, nothing. im not sure if the guy broke something when he unscrewed the cap. seems like a part might be missing, but couldnt find anything on the ground. anyone else have this problem? is it safe to drive the car with the cap not screwed on? i cant get the car to the dealership till monday. im gonna go crazy if i cant drive my car till then.

I'd bet he may have bent something that will not allow it to screw back on--let us know what the dealer says on Monday.

No, it is not safe to dive a car w/o a properly secured gas cap.
texex91 is correct, the attendent did "something" to either the cap or it's sleeve.

I would call the dealer and have them order a cap!

had the car at the dealership today. somehow the white plastic bushing got spun around. they couldn't understand how it happened but they did fix it. they said this will not occur again, but if it does, come in and they'll order me a new cap.

Default Re: gas cap

Well, I just broke my SECOND gas cap! Fortunately, I am still under warranty -- by about 44 miles! Must be a design defect, I know it is broken as soon as I start to take it off!

Another GOOD thing is that , even though it is not good to drive without a cap, the Crossfire Check Engine Light DOES NOT come on when cap is loose!

UNFORTUNATELY, these caps are NEVER IN STOCK and have to be ordered in. Hopefully they will not be BACKORDERED!
