What Is YOUR Top Speed?
I have never gone 130 on a vacant stretch of 5 lane highway that was as smooth as glass in our srt6 where one might run out of road before one satisfies the desire to go faster.
my total run was in a 2 mile stretch...once I passed the 2 mile mark, I was back down to the speed limit..you really need 3 mi to do it safely...or a grt set of brakes, which I now have, but didn't at the time...just be safe out there...that movin' in this little car...
Doc, was there any acceleration left? How long did that last 10 mph take?
135mph in the SRT-6 on a lonely smooth highway.......................140mph in my old SRT-4 coming back from Cali and passed a (busy)cop at 120 while decelerating. lol Both cars were steady as can be and held the road very nice.
I hit 130 in the Aero on a long onramp, slight decline of course. I used the whole ramp since there was no traffic on the freeway and then slowed down quickly once on the freeway. I dont want any tickets either. I justify the ramp because you are supposed to accellerate so you can merge.... I just have to brake to merge..
-150-160 seemed to take a few seconds, car was actually topping out, as this was before tune. Once I realized what was happening, I immediately started to stab brake my way back down. I now have a tune set to 190, but haven't had the opportunity to try again. I had a couple of deputy friends setting at two intersections, one radaring, one lidar....late one evening...I wouldn't try again unless I had 3 clear miles to play with...or at least 2 for sure....car was holding the road just fine...
An Acura RSX Type-S that was souped up had the luxury of getting its feelings hurt one night on the way back from wal-mart. He wanted to race and we went at it on a long straight away with a nice decline slope at the end. I looked down and i was doing 140. It was a smooth 140 not like most cars where they seem to rattle a little when they cross the century mark. I wish i had a srt6 cuz i need more speed.

169.384 MPH in one mile from a dead stop (several runs over three days) - there's even a video floating out there somewhere. Smooth as silk & solid as a rock - factory tires, wheels, springs and shocks....

I've gone faster out in the desert (About 175MPH) but I was on a longer road - Sorry but I have no proof of those runs.

That is dang cool. Wish I could do that with my Crossfire.

if hes driving an unmarked vette i bet you will pull over. a couple of counties in my state have forked out major cash and bought the previous generation corvette and some new ones to take us guys with a 20 lb weight for a right foo. only reason i know aboout this is i was at the police dept visiting my aunt and she told me about it. IMO I wouldn't slow down either especially if i had a srt6 but i drive an n/a and i dont stand a chance versus one of those if we ever met.

I regularly run my roaster limited at 150 along Alligator Alley, but it always tops out around 149-153. This is not due to lack of pedal, it seems, but pure HP. Is it true that the XF is wired shut, or governed, at that speed?
If so, how is it accomplished? Fuel starvation? ... or ignition retardation? How do you 'un-wire' your SRT6 to do better with a tune? Also, I understand that manufactures will limit top speeds based upon OEM tire speed-ratings. True or no? Some say the XF may tend to 'float' somewhat at high speed. Mine feels firm and smooth as you'd ask (little hard on the rag top), but can this sensation be associated with tire expansion? I'm running a decent ultra-high performance summer Bridgestone.
Thanks for any insight.
