What Is YOUR Top Speed?

I regularly run my roaster limited at 150 along Alligator Alley, but it always tops out around 149-153. This is not due to lack of pedal, it seems, but pure HP. Is it true that the XF is wired shut, or governed, at that speed?
If so, how is it accomplished? Fuel starvation? ... or ignition retardation? How do you 'un-wire' your SRT6 to do better with a tune? Also, I understand that manufactures will limit top speeds based upon OEM tire speed-ratings. True or no? Some say the XF may tend to 'float' somewhat at high speed. Mine feels firm and smooth as you'd ask (little hard on the rag top), but can this sensation be associated with tire expansion? I'm running a decent ultra-high performance summer Bridgestone.
Thanks for any insight.

I hit 164 on the turnpike just before I 75. And that was confirmed by the GPS. I also have the Bridgestone tires that are y/Z rated. That was after the SRT was tuned by LET.
I used to live in Naples and had lots of friends in Miami and would make the trip a few times a month across the alley....
Be CAREFUL, they have helicopters and planes doing flyovers pretty regularly looking for exactly that, I got a ticket not far from there last Dec. 26th, merry Christmas to me I guess.....

In the winter, when it's not so godawful hot, I usually run sans the top and do keep an eye to the sky (always makes for a bad hair day). The obvious warning, tho, is to play by the rules over stretches of pavement marked with the VASR lines.
BTW: It's amazing the things that can get sucked out of the cabin at 120-plus, so best keep your stuff stowed in the trunk. The primary dread of running Alligator Alley at a high rate of speed is just that - running over one of the damn things. Yikes.
But back to my question, can anybody explain to me how and why these cars are governed for speed right out of the box? I don't make a habit of cruising much over 5,000 rpm, but when I do, how and what does the ECU arbitrarily deploy to limit my speed to 150?

Hit 140 again last night on the way to dinner with the wife Guy with a turbocharged jetta asked for a thrashing so i gave it to him. only time we were neck and neck was at the start. at 130 he was bout 3 car lengths behind. i kept pushing just because i got one of those wives that loves the sound of an engine at a high speed.

My wife just covers her ears and closes her eyes when ever I mash the gas.
That's no fun.

Anybody here know if their is some kinda meet going down before the winter rolls in on the East Coast. I'm hoping one will so I can meet some of you guys on here before I venture off to Ft Bliss, Tx.
100 Even. I-80 has a stretch of interstate allowing 75mph just outside of Omaha; and they also have a LOT of State Troopers! Had severe adrenaline rush, so brought it back down (HA!) but do 80 frequently. You guys that have gone faster? My hat's off to ya!
