My top speed is normally 80 mph. It moves me through traffic with authority. Have not found much use for higher speed. I did a test run once at 120 to check stability and balance. Very quiet and smooth as a Benz should be. Gary, .... Red Roadster SE modified to my requirements. Ciao

I've hit 143 on the Jersey Turnpike. Not the wisest decision I've ever made, but didn't get caught. As far as AFB's allowing test runs on flightlines, as an Air Force Security Forces Member(MP), I can tell you with the utmost confidence that it will NEVER happen. Sorry!lol

Would this still apply to old bases that fell victim to the BRAC list?

I have a nice AFB (retired) near me in Smyrna, I think it's only used for Cessnas and such. Oh, and an annual air-show.

Nice two-mile runway on it...

I hit 120 in my Camaro (lights blazin (retired cop car)) on our main runway.
Nobody said I could do it and I didn't ask!

143 on the turnpike? I bet you give tickets for doing 10 over on the base!

Question Re: What Is YOUR Top Speed?

Batmobile, as a retired AF MSgt of 23 years (Civil Engineering), any AF security police folks I ever met was an SP (Air Force for Security Police), not MP (Army for Military Police). Has that changed in the last 15 years?

Keeping with the thread, I would love for Shaw AFB to open up its second runway for a top speed run or two. However, I kinda agree that it probably would never happen.

Never say never. I grew up in the Air Force (Dad served 20 years), and served in the Army myself. I can remember on several occasions my dad taking me on the flight line in his 55 Chevy convertible when we were in Japan (1967 - 1970). Also, at the age of 12, my dad once let me drive his Corvair on a flight line in Plattsburg NY when it was snowed over (1972). Lots of fun doing donuts.

I worked with the U-2 program for 4 years as a contractor, and always wanted to ride in a chase vehicle, but that did not happen. I was able to sit in a cockpit of one though.
