its about to be a twin t28 turbo kit im building, the whole clutch thing has been holding me back. plus i need a slightly over built clutch to withstand high amounts of clutch kicking. Aiming to make 350whp or more on a stock bottom end. on an na motor

Im really trying to find a broken flywheel so i can send it to fidanza and have a one piece aluminum one made, this dual mass thing is crap.

All I can say, is I hope you succeed, wish you the best of luck and would be willing to help in any way I can in both the turbo and the lightweight flywheel.... but, I have been reading your posts back roughly 2 years saying you were moving forward with the turbo project, any progress?

yes, everything was crazy with school and work.
I got the e320 maniolds, twin intercooler is on the way, I've already drawn out the intercooler piping routes and such.
Right now I'm waiting or our shop space to be ready before I pull everything apart.
Its just slow going since I want to be able to drive this car in the meantime as well.

It will be done, one day. Gotta get all the parts together and find places to make what I cant get.

Did you figure out a way to program the ECU for the twin turbo?

So boiling it all down, replacement stock parts are about $2k plus labor to replace the clutch. Wow. That's an incentive to drive nice. I wonder if the parts from a SLK320 would bolt up, supposedly they are less expensive than the same parts marked up by Chrysler.

Somewhere in that range, yes, Goldwing. It is -not- cheap, by any means. But nothing associated with this car is.. I'm not sure about the 320 swap, I suppose we'd either have to get really precise measurements of it, or have someone actually attempt a swap.. But even then, you'd have to go looking for an upgraded clutch, which is something more along the lines of what we're trying to accomplish. But that's a great idea for a 'stock' replacement, if the parts truly are cheaper and will work.

the parts are the same parts.
your best bet is the internet, although the flywheels are so expesnive due to them being dual mass (they suck for performance applications)

i really need a spare broken one to send to fidanza :/

We should attempt to contact HDDP, he has done some pretty amazing things with his XF and from reading your ~2 year old thread, he had a flywheel he was going to send you, did this ever pan out? If not, we should see if he still has one or has had an aftermarket one made already

You know Boiler, that's a great idea. I'll go ahead and send him a PM this morning, see if I can get any information from him, or if perhaps he already has some aftermarket stuff installed. See if I can get him to comment on the thread, or just relay the information.

Fantastic, let me know how it pans out, as I am not sure how active he is anymore. But I think I remember reading that he checks in every once in a while....

He said he would if it ever arose that he needed to take it out iirc

I've started dong mock up on the simple stuff, intercooler, manifolds, piping, p/s cooler, etc. I just really need to find a clutch before i dive into this

Have you attempted to call Darkhelmet? (the user that got Borhmian his clutch)

I am interested to see if he is going to be able to supply more of these. He was interested for a while and then he was feeling around to sell his XF, and he pretty much disappeared. I am going to call him, but not for some time, so if you have a more immediate need, call him and see if he can turn these things out. Let us know.

Not sure what happened to him either, Boiler. I'll be sure to give him a call here soon, and see if I can get him back on at least this thread, see about what he might be able to make more of these clutches and perhaps a flywheel. I'll probably end up calling him later on this week, and see what happens.

I have never seen a dual mass flywheel in real life so I have to ask.
The old flywheels were just ground and put back in if the ring gear was OK. so why not regrind, and replace the friction material and springs?
I realize that the friction pad is probably bonded but if it was OK it should be easier.
Would it not be possible to just bolt the whole thing together with no movement between the flywheel halves. How much vibration can there be anyway.
Just asking.
I treat mine gently and at those prices I'll treat it even better from now on.

because of the assembly methods, its impractical to rebuild them, plus it takes special facilities and tools

I just came across this on ebay and was looking for a little feedback. I have never had to buy an aftermarket clutch (or any clutch for that matter) and I am sure someone on here with more experience than me would be better suited to give their opinions.

LUK CLUTCH KIT CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE V6 3.2L 2004 2005 06 : eBay Motors (item 390133202621 end time Apr-17-10 16:49:10 PDT)

I did notice it came with the release bearing. I realize it is half the price, and you usually get what you pay for, but it is worth asking about....

That doesn't look too bad, Boiler, although they don't actually provide any kind of stats in the offer.. And I don't think a 'release bearing' is what it's called.. I keep looking for the name, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.. Our release bearing (or is it the throwout bearing.. might be that one) is actually combined with another piece of the clutch, and called something else.. I wish I could remember it, damnit.. <sigh> Silly memory. At 24, you'd think I'd be able to remember more things.
