Default where is that rattling coming from?

My 2005 rattles in the back when I hit soft bumps, not heard with speed bumps. I thought it was the jack, but it's not.
The cargo latch TSP does not apply to the 2005s, do you have any ideas?
Also calculated 21 mpg on 90% street driving - very cool!

Most likely it is the rear latch. Wrap some electrical tape around the latch catch.

I had that problem...ended up adjusting those 2 black rubber things on the (trunk)? to make the latch engauge even tighter when closed...problem solved. BTW, only had to move them about 1/8 up towards the rear glass to make the latch catch sooner

Green-ghost, by moving the rubber bumpers "up", wouldn't that make the hatch fit "less" snug, than it would if you moved them down?
I would think the hatch would then want to travel, or jostle around.

I had the same problem. I had the dealer tighten the back latch and it was solved.

LOL, Sometimes I think if it weren't for "Senior moments", I wouldn't have any life at all.

For the 2004 there was a tsb for an updated trunk striker. Maybe it applies to your 05 too.

You can try adjusting the rubber bump stops for the hatch, but that will only fix it temporarily. Do the electrical tape trick, it works perfectly! Trust me, the best 2 cents you'll ever spend. The TSP just adds a rubber coated trunk latch (the bar in the hole, not the latch on the hatch). The electrical tape does the same thing and it is undetectable.

Thanks everyone!
I could have sworn the rattling was coming from under the trunk mat, but followed your advise and used electrical tape which seem to have solved the problem.
What a relief to not anticipate it everytime I drive over a bump!
