Default Windshield and Headlight Lenses

I thought the only major defect with my 2006 Crossfire I bought a week ago was the headlight lenses. They are so nasty, yellow and pitted the lenses almost look sandblasted. Well I bought a headlight lens restoration kit from 3M and plan on using it tomorrow. I used one on my PT GT which had terrible headlight lenses and the kit made them look brand new again.

Well I was driving into the sun last night and holy cow, my windshield is SO PITTED. There are hundreds of little pits in my windshield that look awful when driving into the sun.

Is this common? The car has a clean carfax, appears to have almost flawless original paint, yet the headlight lenses and windshield make it appear that the previous owner drove behind a sand or gravel truck 24/7 .

Is there anything a glass shop or I can do to fix the pits in the windshield or should I just replace it?

I will let you know how the 3M kit works on our headlight lenses. I will try and take before and after pictures.

I had the same problem with my red 2006 Crossfire Coupe. I purchased my Crossfire in late May and the lenses were my only problem. I bought a lens restorer kit and it didn't do anything except make it worse. I took it to the dealership and they ran the VIN. The vehicle was still under warranty so I got new headlight for free. The headlights would have cost around $900 altogether without the warranty. I would first check with your dealer to see if it is still under the 3 year warranty. I never would have thought mine would have been, but I was wrong.

When you are cleaning your car, do the lenses get clear again as you soak then with water? If so, I would guess the problem is on the inside and the restorer kit won't help you.

I hope this helps. This site informed me of the light defect (manufacturer's fault) and save me around $900 when I got brand new lights.

The issue is on the outside of the lenses. I know this because they are extremely rough, almost feel like sand paper. I used some paint polish in a small area and after much scrubbing in that very small spot it started to clear up. It does not appear that there is any moisture in the housing.

Unfortunately I do not have a Chrysler dealer in my area... it got shut down a few months back.

If the headlights do not clear up I will take it to one of the dealers in the city, see if it is under warranty, and if so have them replaced.

The windshield is more annoying than the lenses. I wonder if the windshield is covered under the 3/36? There are no cracks, it is just extremely pitted.

The headlights should clean up fine, they are a known problem on these cars. The car must have spent plenty of time at highway speeds in traffic. That is one sure way to pit a windshield. Not sure what can be done other than replace the glass.
