Default Crumpy's SRT won't start

OK,
My day started at 6:00 this morning, the two office girls out, Cathy and I worked till 6:30PM and then the last truck tried to roll down the hillside. 9:00 we get him out of the muck and loaded and head for home.
Except;;;;;;;;;;Her SRT simply won't start.
Of course not. It's cold, dark, wet and rainy. And I'm beat.

Battery is fine, all gauges and radio work ok. Starter simply doesn't come on. Nada.
No Click, no symptoms, Nada.
Turn the key, Move the shifter up and back, Nada.
Lights don't dim, engine monitoring system says normal and nada.

Any thoughts or experiences?

Please, don't tell me to use the search engine. It's late, I'm tired, I'm crabby and the search engine on this forum sucks.

If you have a clue, it is much appreciated. If not, a little ribbing is fine but don't suggest I'm too lazy, or internet ignorant, to look.

I am, but it's not news to anyone.

Meanwhile if the car stalls again open the hood and on the passenger side right next to the battery is a black plastic box. If you open the box (by sliding the tabs located on the top of the box) you will see a couple of circuit cards closest to the battery side and then there's a smaller black plastic case that is on the engine side of the box (furthest from the battery side.). This is the relay control module. Smack it around a little and try to restart the car. Might work, might not.
Let us know.

Sounds exactly like the relay control Module (RCM)

Black box near the battery, give it a whack and see if that works. Might even open it up ans re-seat the module.

I *think* there's a TSB for it but I'm not sure

Other possibilities,
1. Dead key fob
2. SKREEM module, does not recognize key fob.

I had thought of the key fob and the Skreem. and was going to test that in the morning.

I had not ever noticed the permalinks before. handy. thanks.

I have noticed the Permalink but haven't figured how it works. Can someone explain?

Hope you got Cathy's car started this morning Franc.

no clicks on the solenoid? No sound at all? That would sound like the relay, and maybe reseating it will do the trick. May want to whack the starter as i've had a dead spot like that on previous cars. But usually the solenoid will click.

I have reseated it, beat it, spit on it. No clicks, nada.

I spoke politely, in German, cussed it in Spanish, Kicked the side of the car,
to which I was reminded that they stopped putting kick starters on cars many years ago.

NADA!

vehicle retrieval service on the way.

Sorry about your troubles. Be sure to let us know the punch line when you find out. Scooter has had 3 trips on the tow truck. Seems she kinda likes the ride. Don't forget to hit the tow switch before they pull it aboard.

It has been a dark gloomy week. Bad weather, Cranky help and Demanding clients. A truck with a "hot must get there load" stuck up to it's axles. My life this week is a saurkruat and fish stick pie. With this stupid little relay as the cherry on top.

Nice to know Hitler had a worse day.. Thanks for posting.

Nice to know also that I'm in good company. Thanks for the help guys.

Chin up, buddy. Failures and disappointments are the condiments that make the dish called the "rest of your life" flavorful.

Or something to that effect. LOL

I'll be praying for ya chap, at least we're at the weekend now. Have a nice Heiffe-Weiße beer and relax.

Sure sounds like broken solder on the RCM board. (Based on reading the other threads here).

I wish I was there, Franc. I'd look at it - if its the SKREEM or some other module, well, I'd be of little help.

But broken solder around the pin(s) of a relay is something I can handle. I am TEMPTED to pull the relay board out of mine and see what everyone is talking about.

But I'll wait to do that until after my warranty runs out.

Franc,

You have two Crossfire's, correct?

Can you take the RCM out of the one that works, put it in the one that doesn't, and see if the car then starts up?

BC.

If he swaps them, and both cars start, I'll bet in two weeks the OTHER one wont!

And even if that DID happen, it would still tell him where the problem is. (I hear this problem can come and go if it's the RCM - this is why I say this).
