Got to drive in Germany...
Okay, it wasnt in a Crossfire, but it was still fun. I was in Germany this last week and ended up with a free day on Thursday. We rented a Seat Exos(?) 1.8L turbo sedan and drove up to Hamburg and then down to Koln(Cologne). The fastest I could get the car was 200km/hr, 125mph. Lots of fun.
It is really funny to be tearing down the road at over 100mph and have a car come screaming up on your bumper and flashing for you to get out of the way! And it was an Audi station wagon!
Germany is indeed a great place to drive. The de-restricted Autobahns are heaven for the petrol head. I topped out at 145mph in a Honda Civic Type R.
I go annually to visit the Nurburgring and get a few laps under my belt.
I'll hopefully take the Crossfire next year.

Brings back memories of my youth when as a 25 yo Air Force officer stationed in Wiesbaden in the 1960's there were no speed limits outside of urban areas. I could cruise for hours at 120-140 mph on my way to Bertesgadten in my 63 XKE with much less traffic to worry about than today. Of course I gave no thought to the condition of my tires etc. then. Can't even recall checking the pressure.
When I lived in VIenna in the 1980's speed limits there and in Germany were cropping up on many streches of autobahn and even in the free areas, 95 mph was just fine for my middleage self and my Mercedes 300 sedan. But sure would like to get my crossfire over there to allow it to fly. It only gets to sprint out above 100 mph on isolated Texas back roads and they aren't autobahns, thats for sure.

Hihi...
How nice it is to live in Germany, Essen
.
I could drive everyday without any speedlimit...
But so many Autobahnen do have speedlimits today... and so many cars are on the road daytimes,
so you can only drive around 130 km/h.

If they had to blink their brights to get you to move over, then you are not representing the USA well. They are very strict on "keep right except to pass" and I love driving over there because of it. By contrast, it is frustrating to drive across Michigan I96, which I do 1-2 x per week, and deal with the a$$holes who insist on driving in the left lane regardless of how fast I approach. It would be wonderful to have one of my XFs over there and open it up, even with $8/gallon gas.
When you are being passed on the right, it means YOU are in the wrong lane.
(And that fact that you have blue, white or gray hair does NOT change anything.)

Since you dont know me or my driving style or the circumstances...... I'll just leave it at that.......
Fair enough, Mike. Did not mean to offend you. The first time I was there I approached a car that did not move over, so I passed them on the right (it was 4 lanes) and my German passenger went nuts. It is wrong-wrong-wrong to pass on the right under any circumstances. I quickly learned from him to stay well right and only move into the left lane to pass, then move back. A few times I was cruising along at 80-100 mph and could see approaching cars coming up behind me....fast.....and they blew by me doing well over 140. Looked like fun but my BMW TDI could not go over 125.
