Default Does any one know about correct rpms & speed?

I have a N/A autostick xfire. After someone rear ended me, I noticed that there was something wear w/ the transmission. I took the car to a dealership in Yuma, AZ & they say one engine mount was broken & 2 other weak. The insurance replaced just the broken eng mount, but I still notice a possible change in rpms.

@ 65 miles I am doing about 2300 rpms
@ 70 miles -2400 rpms
If a take to 80 It would be around 3000 rpms

I am wondering if this is normal for a N/A with autostick transmission since I feel the car too forced when
running at those speed. I saw my sister's car rpms at those speeds and they are lower (07 Dodge Caliber V4)

I notice things like that. Those numbers sound about right to me.

I know my Roadster with an autostick runs something like 2950 at 80, I was watching this sunday afternoon as I had remembered seeing some thread here discussing RPM vs Speed and was thinking about it.

Your numbers look like what I am seeing. I think you are ok.

I can't think of anything that would happen during a rear end accident that would initiate a speed/RPM change unless the crash was so violent that it caused your lock-up torque converter to stop working. (Then your RPM's would be higher than normal".
The only thing that dictates your speed and rpm is the diameter of your tires and your gear ratios.

(Here we go again... is this another thing I didn't know) - do these cars have a lock-up feature? 'Cause I have not noticed mine locking - must be a VERY smooth lockup.

Speed and rpm are dictated by the throttle and the weight of your foot.
A truer statement is;
The only thing that dictates your speed at a given rpm is the diameter of your tires and your gear ratios.

OK Thanks guys!

Now I can feel the difference when driving, cause probably I was confusing rpms with a little bit different sensation/forced vibration... consequence of the broken mount. I was driving the car today and that sensation is almost gone. I still got to change two mounts.

And, yes that was my theory, that maybe the gears in the axle were damaged.

Even if they were some how damaged, it wouldn't change the overall ratio. You would still turn the same RPM, or no RPM at all because they'd be "locked" up.

By the way, thanks 180 for setting me straight. The next time I'm "coasting" with my foot "off" the accelerator, I'll remember what you said.

My 6 speed is around 3K at 80 MPH. I think your car is normal.
