Srt6 top speed
Ok I do not have an srt6, have the Limited 6 speed. But I found this that says the slk32 amg, has a top speed with the limiter removed of just over 190. Is this for the srt6 also? I am considering trading for one and it would be nice to know. What kind of speed can be reached by a stock srt6?

A search in the SRT6 forum will give you some interesting answers. Stock, it is electronically governed to 158 mph. There are postings of hitting ~180 mph with CAI, tune, s/c pulley. I can tell you mine (stock) hit 150 and climbing when I ran out of safe highway and had to slow it down.

Again it's what you can afford (once you push the pedal on a SRT you won't care how much fuel you're using) and which one you like better comfort wise.

why is the top speed so important? how often do you plan to drive over 100 being 16 years old?
the performance from 0 to 100 is more important than 100+ since 90% of your driving is 0-100 or less.

listen to what he says....you will never get to do the top end thing unless you live in Utah.... I pegged the limiter before my tune in less than 1 mile...that is all you need to know...play on the track, it's safer for all of us....but if you need to know, I feel with the gear we have, the rpm's we turn with a tune, all the necessary mods, it would peak around the 180 mark...and so would the MB brother...
I definitely call BS on the Wikipedia 193 mph top speed (stock, with just the limiter removed) for an SLK32.
maybe they mean 193 is the top speed according to the gearing, but not that anyone could actually hit it?

right, they don't consider wind resistance etc, etc...but I am sure with enough road, our little cars could hit the 180 mark, but the salt flats might be the only safe place...lol

The n/a and SRT6 are different cars, for sure. I bought the roadster because I wanted a 2-seater convertible with a stick, harking back to my 74 TR6. It fulfills that need in a faster, more reliable package. After reading all the comments about the SRT6, I figured it would be great to own a very fast sports car with a hand-built AMG engine for a low price. It does not ride as nicely as the roadster but, even stock, it provides plenty of acceleration and growl. I bought it last year because I wanted one with low mileage, in good shape, without mods. To be honest, I drove it less than 1000 miles this summer and only about 5k the first summer I owned it. I prefer the roadster for road trips. You can still pick up a relatively low mileage SRT6 for well under $20k.
PS - The 2007 belongs to my son. I convinced him to use his motorcycle money and I paid the difference. It was a cheap investment to keep him alive. Machine gray is a beautiful color and it's a very elegant sports car, one that he does not take good enough care. I have to shame him into detailing it, but them again he is only 19.

This is just my 2 cents, but an NA is a great value in a car. If you are not wanting 300+ HP, then it is a wonderful and smart way to go. If you are a performance junkie, then the costs associated with modding a NA does not make sense, especially as cheap as you can find an SRT right now.
Now, the one exception that I would make to this is if you are adventurous enough to do a V8 conversion on a NA. Lantana has proven that a V8 conversion can be done, and more importantly, can be done with a budget that makes sense.
The work AMG performs on these engines is more than just throwing on a s/c. They also use heavier duty racing components. The exhaust is larger; it has a stiffer suspension. Hence the R in SRT and the $10k original premium. One of the members is selling his modded SRT6 for under $18k on this forum -- great deal and not much more than a n/a coupe. As noted, a $15k n/a + $5k in upgrades still does not get you a stock SRT6 which cost $18-20k these days.

Wow.... sorry to hear that you paid 17k for an NA just a short time ago. So, even with that. Lets say you sell your NA for 12K at a 5K loss, and then pick up a SRT for 17k. You will still be better off than putting 5k more into an NA that you already have 17k in. Just my 2 cents.

Just my $0.02
Well...... I did not notice that he was 16. I guess that explains why he paid 17k for an NA. Someone took advantage of his inexperience and youth. Yes..... Thirteendog is absolutely correct.... keep the Limited, and for goodness sake..... slow down!
SRT - 0 to 60 = 4.3 sec..... 60 to upside down = .3 seconds.
