Where to get serviced
Where to get serviced
Well my car is saying it needs service in 100 miles. My Mercedes dealership is usually willing to work on my car but this is the first regular service it has needed. My question is should I take it to the Mercedes dealership or the Chrysler dealership for the service?
Thanks
Thanks

Why take it to any dealership? If you have a good mechanic or can get recommendations from someone you know, take it to a mechanic who has had experience working on Mercedes. Don't know where exactly you live, but around my house there are several independent shops that have ASE Certified mechanics experienced in the service of European Cars.
Just a thought.

Re: Where to get serviced
I assume that it is your first "A" servive. That is a basic oil change. However, I am somewhat confused. Is the car under the 3/36,000 mile bumper to bumper? Is the car covered by the lifetime power train warranty? What year car is it? Have you talked to the Mercedes dealer and have you told them it is a Chrysler?
If you answer these questions I believe you will get better info to your questions. Those do have a impact on the decision.

Re: Where to get serviced
My 2005 owner's manual on page 249 lists the services to be performed. It may be up for a B service (2 wrenches) instead of a A service (1 wrench). I suggest you take it where you feel the most comfortable.
My Mercedes costs about $250 for a A service and B service runs about $600 to 800 depending what they find. You may want to check out Chrysler's costs. Also these is a list on the site in a sticky that also specfifies other service requirements based on time and mileage. Your owners manual has these listed also. Warranty appears to not be a issue based on the data provided. Based on my knowledge 2005s did not have a lifetime warranty on the power train. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I have a 2005 and a 2007 and the 2005 does not have the lifetime warranty but my 2007 does.

Re: Where to get serviced
The Mercedes dealer in Fort Washington, PA will not service the Crossfire other than changing the oil. The service writer told me they cannot bring up any specs or prices for the Crossfire service on their computers. I have to take it to a Chysler dealer or independent for service. They sent me a $50.00 discount coupon for an oil change because I was in their database for my previously owned '98 SLK230.
