Comments about this work of art (Crossfire)
First of all I want one BUT I need to pay off my existing car (that my wife drives now). I should be ready to purchase in maybe 6 months or so.
Actually Im also waiting for the Crossfire to finally sell for 29.995 AND also get 0% Financing. Its hard to believe some dealers were/are trying to sell these for 37k or more. I think dealers who "markup" from sticker prices should be punished. Cars are expensive enough and I hate any type of price gouging.
Ive been reading lots of posts on here and have noted several problems with the Crossfire (noises, Radio, wind noise, ETC... ) and hope its only a early production problem and that the later productions have been corrected. It would be nice to see a page that shows a timeline or Vin number list of which Vin # have which problems. Another way could be users posting their Crossfire's color, transmission and last Few digits of VIN # and name all problems they had since purchasing. (and maybe how easy to get resolved).
-----Now a few questions---------------
1. What is the info on the Chrysler extended warranty. Do you recomend it? Is it hassle free? What is the details with it on the Crossfire? How much is it.
2. Does this car use the fiber optics that Mercedes uses in their cars? (like SLK)
3. Why didn't Chrysler use the Mercedes style Radio that SLK has? I saw it in the photo area here on some of the photos of the car. It looked great and only needs a CD Changer to be complete.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Its nice to see a unique car on the road with all the ricers out there. Im so tired of all the goofy Hondas and such with stickers and tails. Crossfire is a car I feel will look classy (Perfect for a 40 yr old like me).
Thanks to the CrossfireFoum and all members

I didn't think the extended warrenty on the Crossfire to be necessary so I didn't get it, seems the price was around $1100. A lot of people here did get the warrenty though. I don't believe the Crossfire uses fibreoptics. As for the radio, mine is wonderful, great sound easy to program and read. Outside of minor wind noise my Crossfire has been trouble free and is a joy to look at and drive. Most new cars have problems of some sort (I could tell you stories.)
Shop around Crossfires can be found for $30K, but I would not look for brand new ones (not demos) to go for less. Spring and summer sales will begin to accelerate, the time to buy is now. Mine gathers just a ton of attention, each one on the road is an advertizement for Chrysler.

You're probably in for a long wait...
Danwellc I have an early one (1700-something) and have had no problems other than the radio which I replaced with an Alpine with XM; this gives me fantastic performance ( I must remember to turn the volume down with I turn off the car. Maximum db first thing in the a.m. scares the water out of you!). My dealer had a $5,000 discount when I bought. At that price the car is fantastic. I've since added Crystal Guard.
I plan to get the extended warranty/service contract. There are three levels of coverage and different amounts of time/mileage. Cost is negotiable. I've been quoted full price on the Max Care plan with $100 deductible(as shown on the website) of about $1800 down to 30% less ($1250). Sorry, I don't have the link to the site. It was in another forum topic.
There are differing opinions on the value but having had a new transmission replaced, I didn't want to take that chance in 6 years or so.
Other than that and a radio swap, I'm still thrilled.

Thanks to all for your reply. I really enjoy reading all the info and topics on this Crossfire site.
I hope to purchase one in the next few months. I like White or SSBlue with Autostick for sure. Ive had so many manual cars and it gets old shifting. Besides I don't really race anymore and besides, the Crossfire is for cruising in luxury, not racing like the kid ricers.
Ive been looking at the maker of the CD Player in the Crossfire's website. Its made by Becker and its at www.becker.de I like the euro look of their products on their website but they are hard to find in the US. I did find a website in Florida that does sell and service them though. Its at www.continentalimports.com but the Becker stuff is a pretty penny
One feature the Crossfire really could use is the feature in many Euro cars where the window goes down a slight amount when opening the door and a second after closing the door it raises back up. This really aids in keeping the window sealed properly. I wish Chrysler would add this or an aftermarket company would find a way to do this at a reasonable price. You have to admit that would be a great feature to have on the Crossfire.
A few dealers around my area are starting to price close to 30k for instance the ad says: NEW 2004 Crossfire with Autostick for 30,999. Its also says 2 at this price but they have like 14 in stock. My question is if they are already loaded with no factory options available except Autostick and different tires, then why not price all the Auto's for 30,999 and the Manuals for 29,999. Is this a game to get you in and then say, "those were sold, but we have these for more money"? Any ideas? :?

Lower prices in Florida: My son (after seeing and driving my Crossfire) went to a dealer in south Fl. my guess is Ft. Laud. or Hollywood etc. to a dealer that had over 30 Crossfires. He traded a shot $1000 valued vehicle and was able to hagle to $4000 trade, plus some rebates plus more discounts plus great financing. My understanding is the dealer is dealing. --
If you go to the Chrysler web site and search for S. Fl. dealers with a supply of Crossfires you could find out who has that many cars. -- (And I thought I had made a great deal in NC) -- Hope this helps -- Ed
