Default Experience with vinyl cover/bra

Did a search and really didn't find much so I thought I would ask. Does any one have any experience with a front end vinyl cover/bra? I have a invisible bra on the coupe and wife's Mercedes but was trying to avoid that cost on the roadster. The invisible protection costs about $700 for the full monty. However, I really feel like I need a front end cover for some trips. Hate bug jerky and rock dings. I am planning on a couple of longer trips with the roadster this summer and early fall.

I was going to buy a MOPAR OEM or Covercraft vinyl bra. Anybody have experience with these?

Thanks

I think vinyl bras cause too much sweating, but they look sexy....

I have one for each SRT. They are excellent for protecting against boooougs and stones. If you leave them on all the time they will chaffe where the clips are attached by the wheel wells. I have had to have the bumpers and hood repainted because of stone chips.

They fit like a glove and the hood cover is very easy to take on and off and it is easy to wipe under them when you are just doing a quickie clean.

My experience in Arizona with one on my mustang was the fine dust particles that would work its way under it acted like a fine sandpaper. I buffed it out and never used one again....

Arizona...... lots of dust and sand. Yes if you leave them on and do not clean under them that may happen, but stone chips will require a new coat of paint. Buffing takes a hour. Painting might take a week. And much more costly.

I use a chrysler/mopar bra on my white roadster when I do highway driving or when the lovebugs are in season. Can put it on in about 2 minutes, off in about 15 seconds. Fits like a glove. Actually looks pretty cool.

A lot of experience. I have oems on both 2005s. The roadster has 34k miles and no problems underneath at all. The caveat -- summer driver and rarely out in the rain. I take it off a few times each summer and clean real well underneath and apply 3-4 coats of wax. Brush off and vacuum the underside of the bra. The front end is immaculate. By comparison, my 2003 A6 was driven by the original owner 37k miles braless. Lots of rock dings. I touched them up and covered it with a bra for the last 131k miles. This one has some rub marks because it is the winter driver, but nothing compared to the damage avoided by rocks, salt chunks, etc. Apply some Armorall with a glove and it sheds bugs with just a hose-off. PS-I take the bras off for the winter so the paint can "breathe". Both front ends look brand new.

Hawk, where did you find it? I was looking for one last summer and there were NONE. Please post the link (or email jjaiven@chartermi.net). Thanks. PS-I want one for the 2007.

I found it on Ebay for $129. They had 9 of them. You need to specify yes/no to front license plate. It was for a Limited so it should fit 2003 - 2008. They are a Chrysler/Jeep dealer in South Carolina. Do a search for Chrysler Crossfire front cover. Hopes this helps. Best price I could find.

Hawk - I have the Mopar Bra for my car. I keep it behind my seat and when I am going to be on the highway I pull it out and put it on. Normal day to day driving I'm not on any high speed roads so I keep it stowed. Had the car for 5 years now and KOW no chips in the front end. If I did more driving I'd go with the invisible bra, just looks cleaner. I find the Mopar bra is easier to install if you put it in the dryer for 10 minutes.
