The manual said it was for an umbrella, so I tried to actually put an umbrella in there to no avail. Guess the manual was wrong again. THe moron at the dealership said it was to put extra papers. There are so many weird and interesting little bells and whistles on these guys, a million safety devices, etc. I seem to learn something new about it every day. Took me 30 minutes to figure out if I even had a door lock button and where it was! classic.

The Umbrella hooks are the 2 hooks on the bulkhead next to each seat back. You can hang a collapsing umbrella from the hook.

Umbrella fits easier into the mesh storage pouch behind seats.

My umbrella collapses small enough to stash nicely in the passenger footwell net.

switch right behind the interior light switch by the rear view mirror. The picture on it shows a car with both doors open. You can slide it left/right.

This is your control switch on whether or not you want the interior lights to come on when the door is open........... one way to have them come on when door comes on, the other way to NOT have the interior lights come on when the door opens.

I hang my dry cleaning on it...

I have not read the manual yet and when I walked out of the dry cleaners yesterday it seemed the only place high enough that a hanger could hook to that would not block my view when driving...

It works perfect for this application.

I guess it has two uses now....

The owner's manual says you don't. Just change it at something like 100,000 miles.

You can not.

There is a special tool (IE dipstick) issued to DC dealers.
Also be aware that the plug on the trans dipstick is tamper-resistant; it is designed to break if you try and remove it. Yes it can be removed without damaging it- there is a little slight of hand to it.

I loved this blast from the past. WMicheals was the first autocrosser. Did real good with it. Surprised you can still find these. If you notice the ratio between good answers and stupid ones has stayed about constant over the years.
