Default Does anybody know how to replace a headlight bulb in 15 mins

Been trying to replace a headlight bulb but it seems like the Germans are making me feel dumb in a simple task. Been trying to work on it now for 5 hours and the clock is still ticking as I kept on dropping the spring clamp and the bulb in that small hole behind the headlight. The Japanese counterparts made it so easy that you can only do it in less than 10 mins.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Well. no luck! The spring clamp got caught inside the plastic casing so, gotta sleep now and I'll just bring it to the dealer on Monday who'll slap me $70.00 just to put the headlight bulb on. I won't suggest that you all try installing a headlight bulb if you're DUMB like me! And if ever you want one done...make sure its the most expensive one just to compensate the cost of labor...70 bucks is S***! I've installed one in my Porsche and its not this freaking hard! ops:

Disconnect bulb wire

Un clip

remove bulb

put new bulb in place

clip back

re-connect wire

2 minutes tops!

easier to do on drivers side

And the dumbest thing I did.......I was trying to install it in the high beam and not in the low beam. The low beam may be easier I guess.

My problem there is reconnecting the wire since its a small hole, I need longer fingers to attach it to the bulb. If I can only remove the coolant reservoir, that can give me more space to work on and I maybe able to use a long nose pliers to attach the bulb and wire back.

TIP: Before removing your high beam bulb, apply a masking/duct tape or pack the hollow portion below the bulb with a face towel to catch any part that might fall in the bottom space of the headlight housing. In that way, you won't be fishing for any object that has fallen underneath the housing.

Unless you are installing an aftermarket bulb... Headlamp bulbs should still be under warranty.

Its the stock headlamp bulb that i need to replace. I tried to do it myself just to avoid the hassle of bringing my car to the dealership. :-)

its a tough job if you have short finger or big hands, passenger side is really tight, but still should take about 10 mins per side and some scuffed and bruised knuckles

Went to 3 dealers today and all of them don't have a stock on the spring clamp. they said " It's a Mercedes part ".
I was thinking of just making one myself...just a few twist with the pliers and hopefully, maybe I can duplicate the spring clamp.

Yepee!!!! My ingenuity pays off and whoalaa.....I was able to duplicate the spring clamp from the driver side headlamp using the wire from the little flags that cablemen use! No need to go to the dealership and no need to wait when the Germans gonna mail me one. Total time spent = 2 hours with a success plus a savings of $70 bucks from a dealership labor charge! Patience and perseverance pays....though I made it with a bloody knuckle...I'm very confident it'll be easier next time...

Next action.....I need to apply a patent for my new modified spring clamp... I know DC won't bother manufacturing this little bitty one cause they want us to buy the whole headlamp unit when things like this happens....jkzzz..
