Default CHECK ENGINE light & a shudder

went out last night, to go out for dinner, cranked it up and the CHECK ENGINE light is on, and the thing is shaking, shuddering like it's not hittin' on all cylinders, around the block, and straight back to the house.
Not good...............

Any help?

Fuel is low, but not "that" low..... otherwise, everything's normal that I am aware of... we are talking less than 2000 miles on this baby

First the heater blower thing (no small thing in Wisconsin) .. now this!
Having a hard time convincing the wife not to call it HER new nickname for it.. the cra*fire

HELP PLEASE? It's Sunday... I need something to tell her til the dealership opens tomorrow!

Did you wash your engine? Could be several things. Water got in the engine bay, or your 02 sensor is out. The 02 sensor going out is common with Mercedes. It went out on my E class 3-4 times. It did the same thing, causes shudders when I was at a stop or slowing.

Check your fuel cap? Maybe open it and close it.

I had the same thing happen to my 04 Sebring, turns out there was a misfire in multiple cylinders, which caused the shuddering (obviously because the power wasn't balanced). It did eventually stop shuddering (i'm assuming all the spark plugs started firing again) but I still had the engine light on. Turns out the OBD would detect excess fuel in the exhaust, and since there was too much and the engine couldn't burn it off, the engine light comes on. The dealer then changed all of my spark plugs.

being an engine part (?), I think I'd ask them for a part # (just about everything under the hood seems to have M-B part #'s on 'em) and I'd call a few local M-B dealership parts departments...

D/C is really going to have to do something about parts availability. Tires, wheels, engine components, sheet metal, etc. have to be there if they want the original owners of this flagship vehicle to continue to spread the word!

In my business, I do what it takes to make it right, if there is a legitimate customer complaint. D/C has to do that as well. There have been far too many complaints about this on this forum (mine included), for it to get ignored. Did M/B have this problem with the SLK? I doubt it....

And I am sorry, but the parts availability at a premium price (posted in another thread) sounds like extorsion to me.

My real problem with this is - if there are no parts available, then how can they continue to build new cars?

Don't get me wrong. I think this is a great car, and I am glad I bought mine. But part of having a great car is the feeling of good, quick, and reasonably priced support when there is a problem!

OK M/B & D/C - find or make some parts, ship them out, and get these cars back on the road!!!

I'm pretty sure they've finished building all the '04 coupes they're gonna build. Maybe some parts will start trickling into the supply chain?

BUT... they may overestimated demand for the Roadster (like they did for the Coupe), and keep parts tied up to build Roadsters.

In my particular case, I am waiting for a back order "mass air flow sensor".... now I would doubt (Thought I freely admit that I dont know) ... that this car is the only one that uses this particular mass air flow sensor... and there is sitting on my dealer's lot another crossfire (black) that is not being sold... and it has a sensor in it.... why oh why can it not be replaced with that one... it ain't selling anyway! and I have planted this seed in the dealer's ear too!

Oh well............... alas and alack.......
mustn't complain though... :x
