Default Broken Speaker Cover!

Anyone else managed to put their knee through the plastic speaker cover on the bottom corner of the door while getting in/out? or am I just lucky?

Just popped the door, pushed it a little.. then used my knee... and there you have it one broken speaker grill..

Be careful its easier to do than you think! but then again I might just have big & boney knees????

Funny you mention that, Saturday while exiting my knee hit it. Fortunately the velocity of the knee strike was not sufficient to do any visible damage, but I am now very paranoid about that very real possibility.

Never had that happen.

But 50% of the time when I am getting INTO the car I hit my right knee against the center console right next to the ash tray. One time the ash tray was open and I almost busted it off with my knee. Anybody have that problem?

I quit smoking a year ago this coming memorial day, so my ashtray is never open. Not even to hold the cell phone.

That row would be a nice place to install a Nav. system. Just relocate the airbag button and the cig. lighter (incase the plug is needed for power sometime) to the passenger's side above the storeage net. Ummmmm That's a thought.

i've noticed the potential for speaker damage but have managed to avoid it so far.

i have taken to doing a little class on "how to enter the car" prior to anyone else getting in. especially on the driver side since my brother got all jammed-in trying to sit in it. thought we were going to have to call the fire department to get him back out. i would like to say i was worried about his well-being but mostly i saw various car parts getting wiped out as he was getting in (never did make it all the way in) and out.

1)face away from car.
2) let butt fall into seat.
3)slowly pivot while putting one leg in
4)if all else has gone well, swing final let into car.

by the way, when you take it in for service put the seat-back up and the seat all the way back before you get out. the techs will appreciate it.

Unfortunately I let my brother take my X-fire out...he returned with a gash in my speaker cover.I think his foot hit it on the way out.Just received the new one....however I believe the whole bottom panel has to come off to replace it.
The car only has 1800 miles...so when I take it for its first service I will have them fix it as well as some other "small" bugs!

I took out the big grille in the door with my foot once when exiting. When I took it in for some other service, my friendly service people replaced it even though it wasn't on the list.

I know that there have been many examples of rough handling from service but here is an example of going the extra mile. Another pleasant surprise from my Chrysler dealer.

My speaker cover on the driver door got kicked in by the dealer and they are ordering the replacement. Can anyone clarify for me if replacing the cover is going to involve removing the whole door trim or just the bottom portion. Also, any techs out there know how this is to be disassembled? Needless to say, I don't entirely trust my dealership........Thanx in advance.

PS. From now on when I take the car in for service, I'm going to tape a piece of paper over the speaker with the following written on it: "Please don't kick the speaker cover."
