Default I Got One!!!

Picked up a 2006 Alabaster White Limited Coupe with 18k miles tonight. I love this car. It's everything I had hoped it would be. I traded in my 2004 Stratus Coupe (got $8k for it) so the monthly payments are next to nothing. I can't wait to drive it tomorrow in the daylight.

One question I have though. I was driving and manually raised the spoiler using the switch. Well, as I was driving after a certain amount of time (or speed) the spoiler put itself back down. Is there any way to keep it up?

I'm really happy to be part of such a great and supportive community. I guess I need to change my sig now.

Congrats to another fellow Alabaster owner! You've got one of the classiest colors out there.

The spoiler-up button should keep the spoiler deployed. Try it again tomorrow, but once pressed it shouldn't go down until instructed to do so.

Welcome aboard!

congrats on the purchase. The spoiler is one of the more annoying features of the car for me. I t automaticlaay raises and lowers at predetermined speeds. You can maually put it where you want but once you pass somewhere around 55 -60 mph it raises to the highest level on it's own.

Extremely annoying and rather disturbing on such a nice car.

I think if I had a roadster, I'd stay with the motorized spoiler.

But the combo of always hearing it deploy/stow, and the overall profile of the car's rear being too "dumpy"... I went with the other factory spoiler

No regrets.

I tried it several times while driving the car home and it would stay up for a minute or two and then go down on it's own (without using the switch). I'll try it again tomorrow though.

Try pressing the switch until the spoiler is all the way up, then release.

I remember I had to do that for either raising or lowering; not sure which.

John it's the other way around, you have to hold it down until you hear a beep to get it down. Just tap it to raise it and anytime its going up you can hit the down button and it will stay in place.

Edit: congrats on the purchase, and welcome to the group :-)

I can make MINE stay up - I THINK the secret is to HOLD THE BUTTON DOWN until the spoiler is up all the way, and KEEP HOLDING IT DOWN TILL YOU GET A BEEP!

That BEEP seems to indicate that it is in full manual mode and will ignore the fact that you have slowed down.

I keep mine up quite often - when I head for church I often lock it up and once I get there, it stays up!

WAIT FOR THE BEEP before you release the button!

Well, franc, don't be too hard on yourself - keeping it up while at church IS quite a challenge.

Glockster, why don't you simply install a "kill" switch?. It's about the easiest electrical mod you can do on this car. Keeps the spoiler down until YOU want to put it up.

Oh, I'm already scheming. I plan on doing exhaust, intake, engine cover (switch to MB) and maybe wheels/tires but that's it. I'm not touching the engine itself. I like it just the way it is.

Welcome. I would go with what pizzaguy said, wait for the beep when putting it up as well as when your putting it down.

Default Re: I Got One (and now a problem)!!

Second day owning the car and already have a problem.

I'm getting squealing from the front wheel(s) I believe both with and without applying the brakes. From everything I've read, this would indicate the brake pads are worn down to the change indicator(s). I didn't get a chance to take the wheels off but I'm taking the car to a mechanic in the morning to take a look since I'm going to the beach next weekend and want to take the XFire.

Isn't 17k a little too fast for the pads to wear out? I bought the car used so I don't know how much stop and go driving the previous owners did.

What do you guys think?

I should also mention that the squeal or squeak is only heard during part of the wheel rotation, and not while the wheel is turning the whole time (uneven wear?). At high speeds on the highway, there is no noise at all. Only when driving in the city at low speeds and braking.

I'm under a 30 day full warranty and then I purchased a four year limited warranty as well, but the dealership is not exactly around the corner (like 45 minutes away with traffic).

So it's there at low speeds, or only at low speeds when braking?

Sounds more like warped rotors. Easy to do with aggresive driving.
Questin,

When you first start in the morning , no sounds until after you use the brakes and warm things up a bit?

If so, warped rotors is a likely possibility.
