[quote=AllEuro]That's not true, in the slightest. He's a huge fan of hot hatches and has professed to enjoying the GTI on several occassions. He LOVES his volvo XC90 and talks about it fondly on several occassions. I recently saw an older episode where he quite liked the Vauxhall something or other VXR--whichever version was the Holden Monaro with the LS series GM v8---and that was over a jag S type R. I get the sneaking suspicion you don't watch or read Top Gear all that often. Not that there's anything wrong with that. He likes cars that have a certain feel and design to them. I recall that he even owned an SLK at one point. So he likes the cars. But the crossfire wasn't all that compelling to him. Why is that a problem? If the crossfire wasn't as cheap as it was for me to buy, it wouldn't be that compelling for me to own either.

My car stickered for $37,xxx USD brand new. There are any number of cars, new or used, in the price range that drive better than the crossfire and offer better performance. If my car didn't cost under $25k USD, I never would have bought it, despite how nice it looks. As nice as the crossfire is, it frankly should have been better. And it wouldn't have taken a heck of a lot to improve it, truth be told. For that lack of detail, I blame M-B.

I have owned and driven performance cars and bikes many years. I never needed or wanted media input. I do owe my Audi cars to 20/20 and uncontrolled acceleration BS. The media also drove down the cost of my Xfire's and I thank em. Gary

Ok NewB, you have had 5 full pages of posts on the crossfire, most are positive, if you have not made up your mind by now, something is wrong here. When i bought my 05 limited 6 spd with 6,400 miles last year, I did not know about the Crossfire or the forum, so I did no research. I just used my gut feeling, been bying new and used cars for over 50 years, made some good choices, and had a few bad ones over the years. As I said, I knew nothing about the Crossfire, just that they quit making them after a few years. When i went to look at this car, I was blown away how clean it was for a '05, it even smelled new inside, and after I drove it, I BOUGHT IT, end of story,(no research or 5 pages of forum posts,) took a chance. Go for it !!!!!!!!!

I look at it like this...all those people who talk about really cool cars in their past will always have one, "I wish I never sold it" car. Im not going to be that guy. I love the XF looks over any other negative aspect of the car. My 04 still gets attention regularly and I dont care about how much gas , maintenance or anything else cost. Its a rare car and getting rarer (sp) by the day.

It's actually really interesting you brought that up. When Chrysler was offering crazy money off for these cars, I thought to myself that if I bought something else, something more common/mainstream, I would have always looked back and regretted not going with the less common option. If/when the point should come that I sell the car, I'm not sure, however, if I will be in the camp of "I never should have sold that car". Unless the car one day become valuable like any of the well known muscle cars that go for big bucks at auctions.

I'm with the ghost guy!

I might sell my Roadster, only if I find ANOTHER Roadster - one with a stick! But I intend to have a Crossfire Roadster for a LONG time... This has been the most fun, attention-getting car I've ever had.

It is also my first "drop top", my first sports car and my first non-pickup. (First non-pickup since 1985, that is).

I'm keeping it. STILL can't decide if I can afford a second one, a Coupe. Really THINKING about that. A lot.

Cool Re: XFire the way to go? OR NOT?

I'm keeping mine until I can't get in it anyone -- and then I may hire someone to put me in it. I have an 04 coupe with 6k miles on it (it will be seeing more miles per year now that it's mine). I too am hoping to buy another one -- likely going to get a roadster to add to my garage. They're unique, attention getting and I think will become a classic in the next 10 to 15 years. I plan to enjoy the heck out of mine for many years to come.

I dont understand why this thread is still going so I thought I would add to it again just to express my disbelief! I think we all agree we love the car and Newbe if thats not enough and you cant find your answers to any question you have on previous threads then you are not looking properly.

Buy the car if you want to, if not leave it be!
