XFire the way to go? OR NOT?

This place sells a whole mess of parts for many cars, but I've purchased a genuine MB mirror switch from them. Pretty good price too. He sells oil filters for the XF at $5.50. Seems like a good price to me. I don't know about a collection of replacement parts though. Ebay is generally where you'll find them, or here in our private parts & accessories section.
For mods, other people will have to chime in. I've kept mine bone stock.

Look at most reviews with him about sports cars he dislikes everything below £100K and always compares them to higher spec vehicles and then bums them out. I have not seen him give a good review that I would trust for years. If you think about it he drives the best cars in the world, then gets into one costing a quater of the price and does not seem to realise that is why it could not compare to his standards...........PLUS he can afford better so why would he care. Does his opinion really matter 4 years on? If you look at Tiff Needell's review it is a nice non biased review.........undertaken in America! when you read through this site do you find many people who dislike it? These are more the sort of people you need to consider, a lot I am sure put their last £1/$1 into buying them as thats the best car for their budget. They are the people worth asking not Jeremy Clarkson. Maybe if you were out buying a Maybach it would be worth taking what he says into account.......??? just my opinion?
What are the Pros and Cons of Automatic and Manual transmission on the Crossfire(besides personal preference)??
Also what are some other sites people recommend to buy replacement parts?
Thanks

That was on the 04 sticks.... there was a TSB to fix it so that should not be a concern if the TSB was done... I prefer autos, Franc prefers sticks..... if you drag race, the auto may get the nod.... if you autocross, the stick gets the nod....yes, it is strictly up to what you want...
Hey NEWB , you should check back with the forum when you are old enough to get a drivers license. I'm sure alot more info on the Crossfire will be available to you then. By the way , any good tips on the latest skateboards out there? I'm looking for one for my son.
youngsters are always asking questions....at least this one is intelligent enough to ask good ones....so, with that in mind, doubt he knows much about skate boards...he can read....

I love how you want to start **** over the internet. Tom - Once I get a Crossfire, I will be looking forward to meeting up with you at one of those "Xfire get-togethers"..See you....
Whoa..... ease up! If your to become a Crossfire owner you need a thicker shell than that! Just saying you sound more like a kid than a serious Crossfire shopper. Hope you can prove me wrong, now take all that energy and go tear up a salesman and buy yourself a Crossfire.
I am in the U.K where the Xfire has a slightly bad rep - based purely on Top Gear which many people take as gospel...
Truth is, I've driven many of the cars mentioned in this thread. The 350z is indeed 'sportier' in as much as it's more of a point and squirt car - if I were making a track day special; I'd prefer the 350z... however; these comparisons with the Z and many others are often wide of the mark. The SRT6 is faster than most but the standard Xfire; while fast - is more a grand tourer in my mind - wrapped up in a sexy two seater coupe shell. Of all the cars I've driven out of those that have been mentioned, the Xfire is the better car to drive day to day. It drives like a luxury Mercedes and I should know as my father has an S-Class Benz. In SRT6 form and with some tinkering, you can take on 911's and the like. I drove my friends E36 M3 the other day and hit a corner on greasy roads; ready and willing to enter a drift. The back just snapped out and we span (badly)
. In the Xfire, I'd have been able to control it - even with Traction Control off. Some of these cars that are considered more 'driver focussed' are just poor every day 'to the shop and back' cars IMO.
Reliability?? first class. No faults and engine bits are cheap (relative) as many after market Benz SLK stuff is out there. Body parts is a different issue.

After driving 4,100 miles in the last week in my Crossfire, and spending a week driving the new Ferrari F430 Scuderia and a Porsche Carrera GT, I figured I should weigh in on the Crossfire compared to the other two I drove...
As far as reliability goes, the Crossfire is friggin' bulletproof, imo. I drove from MN to WA and back through all sorts of conditions and maxed out the car more times than I can count along the way and I never had a single hiccup, stumble, or problem.
Gas isn't even all that expensive since the car gets decent mileage. Even at an average pace of 85-90 MPH, I still managed 26 MPG all day long. If you want fuel efficiency, buy a Prius, but the Crossfire is damn good for the car that it is.
Again, if you're worried about tires, it's going to be the same problem for any other sports car you might be looking at. These cars handle great with a good set of tires. No complaints from me and I've driven some of the best. The steering is numb but the actual mechanical grip this car has is hard to beat for anything at this price point.
I'd say maintenance is going to be on par with most other cars in its class, except when compared to the Mustang perhaps. Compared to my buddy's Carrera GT, it's downright cheap. To put things in perspective, replacing just the clutch on a Carrera GT will cost you more than my Crossfire is worth...new. Oil changes are pricey but in the scheme of things, not that bad.
As others mentioned, replacing body panels can get expensive so that is definitely something to consider if you're accident prone.
I guess that's about it. The Crossfire is, imo, the perfect blend of performance, comfort, and style. I couldn't really ask for anything more... except another 200 HP!

My car stickered for $37,xxx USD brand new. There are any number of cars, new or used, in the price range that drive better than the crossfire and offer better performance. If my car didn't cost under $25k USD, I never would have bought it, despite how nice it looks. As nice as the crossfire is, it frankly should have been better. And it wouldn't have taken a heck of a lot to improve it, truth be told. And for that, I blame M-B.
