Shop Manual For Oil Change?
Is there an official manual for crossfire oil changes. I hate to be one of those guys that didn't do a search..... but I did search and found plenty of write-ups here that are real helpfull. Just wondering if there was a manual with detailed instructions. My biggest fear is getting the filter o-rings in the right place.
It has been years since I changed my own oil. Just tired of having someone in the back work on my car and I have no idea if it is being done properly. Or I could go to a jiffy lube and still can't watch these kids properly. I watch them do oil changes and they are too fast and careless. The only person that will do it correctly is me

I don't know if there is a manual for it but I have changed my own oil and getting ready to change again. oil ring is very easy. It has a spot which is very visible. Simply slide the old oil ring out and roll the new one to its place (you will see the oil ring's place when you look at the filter) Very easy, trust me. Look at the old oil filter and see where the oil ring is and copy it.
You probably already know this but I will type a step by step instructions anyways.
-Lift the car up (level lift would be great)
-Remove the cover at the bottom of the car
-Unscrew the oil drain plug, let it drain till it is barely dripping
-While the oil is draining, unscrew the oilfilter (located at the top of the engine) Place the new oil ring to the new oil filter, screw it back into the engine. (Hand tight is good enough)
-Once the oil is fully drained, screw the bolt back on
-Remove the oil cap from the top of the engine
-Use a funnel and pour 8,5 qrts of oil in
-Before dropping the car, start the engine, look at the bottom of the engine to see if there is any oil leak from the drain plug. If there isn't (if you tightened it enough, there wont be any leaks, but check it just to make sure)
-Put the cover back on
-Drop the car.
You are all set.

I just did my first oil change; I have to admit that I was a bit intimidated at first with all of the O-rings and the lower pan cover.
However, let me put your mind to rest, it just isn’t that difficult and with the exception of the oil filter it is just like changing oil in any other car.
While the oil is draining, pull the oil filter out. Wrap a rag around the filter housing to catch any drips. Have newspapers spread on a workbench or on the floor. Pull the filter out, have an old rag to hold the bottom stem and catch any oil dripping.
Lay the filter on the newspapers; take note of how and where the O-rings are. Open the baggie with the new O-rings and lay them out on a clean spot in the order that they need to be reinstalled. Remove the filter and the old O-rings.
Slip on the new filter and O-rings and reinstall in the filter housing.

Another big thing to get right is seating the filter ALL the way... make sure to seat it so one of the lines is covered.... the filter goes in either way and has two lines..... if you dont get it seated, you could damage it when you screw the filter back in.....
Use a fleece filter, it is bright white in appearance and made from fibre glass and not the color of the paper one in the photo below.
Remove the drain plug with the engine warm, not too hot. Getting burnt by hot oil is painful and can do severe damage to your skin.
Remove the old filter cap while the oil drains and remove the old filter and the four O-rings. Take note of how far the filter is pushed into the filter housing.
Install the new filter and install the four new O-rings, with a spot of oil on each, as shown below.

Photo taken from Valks earlier post.
Using the filter installation tool (MB#105 589 02 09 00 or equiv.) tighten to 18 ft.lbs.
Install the drain plug using a new crush washer (14 mm) if possible and tighten to 22 ft.lbs.
Fill the engine with the new oil and reset the FSS on the dash.
Install the splash shield and tighten the bolts to 5 ft.lbs.
During my search on this post I stumbled upon this thread.
My question is; did these filters do a shitty job?

Heres a good thread on oil changes.

Does Walmart carry mobile 1 0/40?
I went to the local Napa and they only had 7 bottles of it. I didn't buy any of them and think i may try walmart.

You could also go to Autozone, O'Reilly Auto Parts, or PepBoys, these 3 usually have them in stock.

I can always wait until I have it in my hand, but I'd rather be prepared!
Anyone?

Maybe I can say I helped Max.

Would that be inside diameter?

Change intervals will vary a lot, from 2,000 to 7,000 miles depending on driving conditions and preferences. I changed mine every 2,000 miles but it was free.
